How good are 30th row floor seats at an arena concert?
 

Howdy..
I got an offer to trade my 2 tickets for a couple in the 30th row of the floor, and off to the side a bit. The tickets I currently have are 15th row of section 118, here:

I've never had the chance to be on the floor so I don't actually know how good seats are beyond, say, the tenth row? How's the view and sound and overall vibe in the 30th row compared to those i've got..?

That all depends on how many shows you've been to. I've been to over 300 shows (not counting my own), and found that, as I attended more, the novelty of "floor seats/standing room" got old. I wouldn't swap the seats you have for floor seats, but that's just me. 15 rows up? You'll have perfect, unobstructed viewing. On the floor, someone may sweat, vomit, piss, or spill something on you. And you won't see as much.

That's my feeling too. What you have is what I aim for at arena concerts -- bottom level, just off to the side, a few rows back. You should have a great view. I'm not sure how it'll be for Coldplay, but concerts I've been to with floor seating, as soon as the show started everyone stood up and stayed up the whole show. Some shows people would stand on the chairs -- and as soon as one asshole in front does this, it pretty much forces the whole floor to do so if they want to see. If it was less than 20 rows, I'd say swap for the experience. 30 rows ... I don't think I'd do that. But its your call.

I would not make the trade, unless your 10 rows from the front you have better seats and not to mention you can sit. If you take floor seats be prepared to stand for the entire 45 minute set. ;)

I've been going to concerts for almost 30 years. I learned long ago that the floor was not the place to be. It was inevitable that someone taller than me would obstruct my view and I would constantly be moving left and right trying to see between people. I much prefer close to the stage raised sections. You see EVERYTHING! BTW, your current seats would be perfect as far as I'm concerned. :)

As others have said, do not take the floor seats for all of the same reasons. I have never taken floor seats that are beyond the 8th row.

If you can't handle standing during an entire rock concert you should be home knitting.

Your current seats would probably be pretty damn good...that said, I saw Coldplay last year from the 23rd row on the floor and the view was spectacular (one of the best shows I've ever been to) but since you're seats are probably closer to the stage (or at least will provide a bit more of a complete view) if you're hesitant stick with your tix... although you can pretty much see it all from anywhere...and the video screen is one of the coolest I've ever seen at a concert...

KEEP YOUR CURRENT SEATS. Wayyy better. Elevated above crowd, and you are in prime loge seats. 30th row is probably about how far back you are anyways, and your above all the crowd.

The whole idea of sitting during a pop/rock concert is strange to me.

If you're not within the first 10 rows on the floor it is NOT worth it. I was maybe the 40th row at an AC/DC concert and literally could not see the guys!! (I am 6' 1", btw)

this is why i prefer club shows, although if your not at the door about a good hour and a half to 2 hours before the doors open, you'll likely be in the hardcore thrashing pit.

Your original seats are exactly where I prefer to sit for an arena concert. Maybe a few rows closer, but still. Comfortable and elevated enough to see the entire stage. With Floor seats that far back you can expect to see the bands head and shoulders mostly.

The only time I'd want far back floor seats is if seeing The Stones or U2 where they do a mini set out in the middle of the floor.

Hey thanks guys, I did kinda figure that it might be hard to enjoy a show with 29 rows of people at the same level in front of me, but i wanted to be sure.

Numanoid it's kinda funny you mentioned that; my friend went to the Coldplay concert a couple years ago and said that people only stood up for maybe 5 songs, and I was amazed. That almost made me want floor seats more because the floor's usually a bit more into it. I'm hoping that people stand up this show since X&Y hits a bit harder than A Rush..., and way harder than Parachutes
