That is why I love ebay. Was able to get my Feeder cds since there was no real chance of getting them over here.

Lots of UK bands - Muze, Placebo, Elbow, Starsailor, Feeder (the latest albums from the last two of which still haven't been released in the US) - didn't even get their albums released over here until a year after their original in their country of origin.

And sometimes, well a lot actually, it even happens within the same continent. There are many Canadian releases that don't hit the U.S. for quite sometime, either - and many, not at all.

Mid-year Update!!!

MusicTalk's Rank'em as You Hear Them (2006)
Mid-year Update

Compiled using a secret formula, and voted on by YOU!!!

Note: I did not count the votes of anyone who hasn't updated their list in the last two months.

The top ten (as of 06/30/06):
early 2006. He was also kind enough to share with me his secret formula for compiling the data.

The rules are simple:

This thread is for ranking albums that are released in 2006. This does not include reissues or albums that you have purchased/heard for the first time this year but were released in prior years.

Keep your list in one post (edit!) and keep them in some sort of order (see the second post for my system).

At the end of the year I will compile a list of the top albums as voted by MusicTalk.

Hopefully we can introduce each other to some good music this year!

UPDATE: For those of you who were keeping track of your CD spending in the thread Giles started, here is a link. Please feel free to bump it when you make an addition.

I've updated pretty consistently every week, but added quite a few new albums over the past several days, along with adopting a few of the visual touches some others are using.

Continuing to enjoy reading this thread -- particularly keeping tabs on Giles and jonnyrocks' listings.

It's been 5 months since I last revised my list, so I did a HUGE (for me, at least) update just now.

Do I have to rank them with stars for them to be counted?

Whew...I spent way too much time working on it, but I have finally updated my post.

I learned that I have bought tons of CD's in just the past two months...but, it's interesting to see how they rank amongst the stuff from January-May.

Hey everybody.

Please update your lists before the end of the year. In early January I am going to compile the final data from this thread but I am only going to include lists that have been updated in the last three months.

Also, it's not too late to post your list for the first time. Check out the guidelines in the first post of this thread.

Thanks.
