"LIVING THINGS". What can you tell me about this band?

I saw the very tail end of a performance on CONAN the other day. What little I heard was decent so I thought I'd ask you guys about them.

Any fans of "Living Things" out there?

I started a thread on their debut about nine months ago that got about 3 replies, it seems to be gone, strange.

The album's really good, IMO. Uptempo punk/hard rock like bands like the Hellacopters. Steve Albini produced it so it has a nice compressed, crunchy, powerful sound. I though it was one of the better hard rock albums from last year.

Bom, Bom, Bom is a great song. I think the album is called Ahead of the Lions.

4th wave major label garage dribble and they have been major label failures for a couple of years now in the vein of the Sun and the Star Spangles until their recent release which features an OK single. Listen to the Oblivians, the Mummies, or the Gories instead. All of their records are far better than the Living Things.

Somewhere. I know I have said some good things about Brokeback Mountain. Music wise, I am not sure. I know I wrote some good things in the album covers thread about that Islaja and Feathers album which are wonderful.

Did pitchfork write something of that nature? Oh well. I just angry at these 2nd rate garage bands that people buy their albums instead of something that is actually great but only has sold 5,000 copies. I have been on this garage arguement before. Out of the hundreds of albums I listened to last year, probably more than half of them have been garagepunk. That is just my genre that I love to death and no matter how many 7"s or demos I go through of the same 3 chord madness, I am just not tired of it.

Regarding their performance on Conan last week; was I the only one who was totally put off by how obvious it was that they were not actually playing? I thought it sounded a little too perfect or something at first, and then could quite clearly see the drummer doing a terrible job trying to play along with the music while not actually hitting the drums. Very strange, as I don't know that I can remember ever seeing any rock bands lip synching on Conan or any other late night type show for that matter.

It happens a lot when your band is just a bunch of selling out poseurs. (this is where a winking smile guy would be if I wasn't against them)
