That's an excellent question, auto. I was wondering the same thing.

Has anybody sent in their "defective" Soft Bulletin? If so, have you received the replacement? Thanks.

A friend of mine sent his in a few days ago. He's in Edmond, OK, so hopefully he should get his replacement back pretty quickly. I'll post when he does.

I haven't sent mine in yet, not sure if I will... I'm pretty sure that I'll be listening to the DVD-A 9 out of 10 times when I decide to spin it. Probably 10 out of 10, I haven't listened to Yoshimi on CD since the day that the DVD-A was released... So, no real rush for me but I suppose that I should send it in...

Just start going backwards album by album until you find them too strange. That would put you all the way back into the late 80's most likely.

I sent it in a few days after it was released, I'd imagine it will be a little longer to receive anything.

Are you crazy? CTM at the end of your list?! Well, no wonder I disagree with you. The new album is fantastic.

In other news,

Coming soon:
20 Years of Weird: Flaming Lips 1986-2006
Street: 3/7/06

Tracks:
1. Wayne's Intro
2. Free Radicals
3. Enthusiasm for Life defeats Existential Fear.
4. With You
5. Whole Lotta Love/Can't Stop the Spring
6. Shine on Sweet Jesus
7. Space Age Love Song
8. Moth in the Incubator
9. When You Smile
10. Sleeping on the Roof
11. The Observer

Additional Info:
Most of the songs are from a very limited ep that was given away as a promo item by the band when their friend, Bradley Beasley, screened his
documentary about the band "Fearless Freaks" at SXSW in 2005. The tracks are mostly taken from various live shows throughout the band's career.
There is more info on this ep in the liner notes of the artwork. Also includes the track "Free Radicals" that is from the upcoming album "At War with the Mystics."

The live part is widely available, but Enthusiasm for life and Free Radicals are previously unavailable. In addition, the Wand single will include You Got To Hold On & Time Travel...Yes!.

I've finally listened to At War With The Mystics a couple of times and am underwhelmed. Nothing really stands out and it's kinda boring. I liked the 2 previous albums.

I'm with you. I've listened quite a few times and it's not hitting me at all. It really drags. I hope they're not turning into (the current) REM.

Don't know; I believe he sent it to the Edmond address. I'll ask him next time I talk to him.

Thanks. That jibes with the Dave Fridmann site.

That's what I've been doing, since I picked up Yoshimi a couple of months ago. So far I'm back to Priest Driven Ambulance (though I missed Zaireeka and HTDITFH).

Cool, man. It's on my list.

I'm still waiting until I can do a proper session on Zaireeka (should be soon, as I'm setting up a 6.1 HT in the same room as my 2-channel system) to pick that one up.

Has anyone ever done this with Zaireeka? I own it and I've spun a couple of discs at the same time but I've never had the opportunity to have 4 audio sources running at once. Been meaning to do that with a group of friends... Maybe I can get around to it this summer.

I've wanted to do this for some time. I have a crude mix of the album on CD-R but I'm sure it doesnt it justice.

At this point, unfortunately, I think I am going to wait for the 5.1 mix (or will it be 4.1?)

my guess is it would be 4.0 w/ no bass management. although i know it is impossible to tell the location of most sounds below a certain frequency.

I've done it a few times. It's really an amazing experience. When I did it, I had four audio players of varying quality (home theater, computer with really good speakers, a decent bookshelf system and a run-of-the-mill boombox), and it actually enhanced the experience. The stuff playing on the boombox was further in the background, making it sound much further away.

After you're done listening, I suggest immediately rotating the discs around the different stereos to get an idea of how greatly the album can vary just based upon which stereo is playing which disc.

I just streamed the album over at NME.com. Good stuff. Excitement meter is rising.
