R.E.M.: IRS titles reissued-2CD Deluxe Editions

R.E.M. will have several IRS titles reissued in the second quarter next year. When you get this far out, date-wise, it's always best to tuck the dates away in the back of your mind until they become conclusive. When they do, we'll be here to assure you. But for now, expect a Deluxe 2CD reissue of Document, Deluxe Edition of Fables of the Reconstruction, the DVD reissue of Film Stock - The Complete DVD, and a Deluxe 2CD reissue of Life's Rich Pageant. Not too far after that, there is And I Feel Fine:The Best of R.E.M. (CD/DVD).

I actually stumbled across the reissue of Document in a local record store this weekend. It was a dual disc...is this part of the above mentioned reissue series?

I considered picking it up, but I heard nothing about it; but a 5.1 mix of Document (advertised on the sticker) sounds cool.

Great news. I'll be picking up all of these save the GH.

Hopefully we get more info soon.

Thank god. These have needed a remastering for some time now.

wendersfan is correct, Murmur was IRS, along with Chronic Town and Reckoning.

If they are anything like the dreck they stuck on the recent Cure re-release deluxe editions, then I will be taking a major pass on these.

That was probably the DVD-Audio version of the album, not a dualdisc. It's worth picking up if you like Document. It's a nice mix and is definitely the best I've ever heard the album sound.

I'd like the see these follow the same formula as the Warner reissues, but if there are some rarities I haven't heard yet I'd like to hear those as well. Actually, now that I think of it, I'd like to see them trump the Warner discs by remastering the CD version of the album as well. It's hard to tell from that blurb what they plan on doing, though.

No, it was definately DualDisc--there was a sticker on the front. Actually, it's listed on the store's site (http://www.vvinyl.com), if you search the term "DOCUMENT (DUALDISC)".

Aside from the 5.1 mix, the only other detail I remember is the mention of videos for the album's singles.

Who cares about REM? Wait these are the IRS titles - that different. WB years are mostly sucky.

Cool, you're right. Here's Amazon's page:

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...01552?v=glance

Looks like it just came out. The DVD-A had the same three videos as the Dualdisc, so it's probably the exact same content (which is good for me, since I won't have to rebuy it). I paid $20-something and thought it was worth it, so I'd definitely reccomend the Dualdisc.

Ooh, I've got the Mobile Fidelity release of Murmur, but I've never been able to find a copy of Reckoning that I could afford. Maybe I'll contact an Ebay seller and offer to trade my vinyl, cassette and CD copies of reckoning for the MoFi one. (The Barter-it-Now price?)

Hopefully both of ours will be obsolete soon.

Yes this most definitely WAS recently released on DaulDisc, along with the debut album from Crowded House.

Also on August 29 are three R.E.M. issues. They all bear the same title, And I Feel Fine: Best of IRS Years, but will come at you in several formats. The first two formats are CD and DualDisc, with the third issue a DVD called And I Feel Fine: The Videos.

So does this mean that there won't be full reissues of the IRS albums? If not, that kind of sucks. I wonder how the track listing will differ from "Singles Collected".
