MusicTalk Draft Game - Round 3 Voting (We need your votes!)
Welcome to round three of the MusicTalk Draft Tournament! In this thread, the players drafted a virtual “collection” of ten albums. Now, it is up to you, the MusicTalk community, to vote on which player has drafted the best collection.
For round 3, all the players have been randomly paired up. In order to vote, you need to reply to this post telling me who you think has the best lineup. Your vote will not count unless you vote on every pair! In addition, once you post your votes, you CANNOT edit that post for any reason. Edited voting posts will not be counted. Players in the game are also allowed to vote. Optionally, they are also allowed to post to this thread telling everybody why they think you should vote for their collection. So, let the voting begin! Voting ends on Thursday, November 10th, at the exact time of the timestamp of this post. Match-ups will be listed in the first reply to this post. Good luck to all the participants! |

1. BadlyDrawnBoy - I had to decide my votes on the others and come back to this. Both lists appeal to my tastes about equally, but I'm giving a slight edge to BadlyDrawnBoy for having the U2 album I enjoy more.
2. illennium - very, very close. During the draft, I've been looking into artists and albums that I wasn't overly familiar with. This process introduced me to Grandaddy and led me to buy The Sophtware Slump, so I'm giving the slight edge to illennium. 3. DJLinus - The more we progress, the more I think DJLinus might have my favorite list (after my own of course... ;)) #1 and #10 are a great way to open and close it and Helmet is the only reservation I have about picks #2 - #9. 4. maxfisher - If anyone actually prefers someone else's list to their own, then they've played the game differently than I have. |
Two of these competitions are way too close for me to pick yet. I'm currently listening to albums on Rhapsody so I doubt I can make a decision until late tonight or early tomorrow.

cdollaz
Aphex Twin DJLinus Mordred |
1. cdollaz (The Clash and Radiohead make the difference)
2. illennium (strong collection here. Radiohead, The Pixies and Television) 3. jimdrix (Beatles, Stones & Ministry) 4. Mordred (How did I lose to this guy? Probably Dylan and The Sex Pistols) |
I told myself I was going to stay away. But.. here I am.
[b]VOTING - ROUND 3 This Round’s Match-ups 1. cdollaz vs. BadlyDrawnBoy BadlyDrawnBoy - Again, I cannot deny Joshua Tree, Purple Rain and Ten 2. Aphex Twin vs. illennium illennium - Too hard to choose. Both have half their collection I've never heard of. I'm not music geeky enough, it would seem. Probably added to my demise in the last round. Flip a coin or going with the underdog. Underdog it is. 3. DJLinus vs. jimdrix DJLinus - Disintegration and Laid... Hurting jimdrix, for me, was Public Enemy 4. Mordred vs. maxfisher Mordred - Another tough choice.. Mordred has PE, which I don't care for. But that 1..2..3 punch is unstoppable. Throw in Sex Pistols, and you get my vote again. |
cdollaz
Aphex Twin DJLinus Mordred |
1. cdollaz, London Calling and Tom Waits do it for me, and if I have to put up with U2, let it be early U2. Eventually he'll get hurt by Rush and Van Halen, but not this time.
2. Aphex Twin, he's got 2 of my desert island discs on there, and one that almost makes it. 3. jimdrix 4. Mordred, some classics that are not necessarily favorites of mine, added to Dylan, a bold (and good) Airplane pick, and SRV. |
Arghh, I got slaughtered. Aphex has got to be teh favorite considering I won by almost 20 votes last time, and this time, he beat me by even more than that! Ok, on with the voting:
1- Badlydrawnboy (easy call: Joshua Tree vs. Boy pretty much exemplifies this one) 2- Aphex (another easy call, and not just because aphex beat me 3- Jimdrix (very tough, but comparing selections round-by-round, I only gave the nod to djlinus on picks 7 and 10). 4- mordred (relatively close, but I love Thriller and I hate Psyence Fiction) |
1-cdollaz
2-aphex twin 3-djlinus 4-maxfisher |
1. cdollaz
2. illenium 3. DJLinus 4. maxfisher |
1. BadlyDrawnBoy
2. illennium 3. DJLinus 4. Mordred |
