I was a little unsure about this pick but figured what the hell its the last round...it's too bad Al hasn't released anything near as good since.

TripWire 11-04-05 03:12 PM

yeah true, albums as a whole, never as good as Psalm 69, but there are songs here and there off the newer stuff I like.

Sweet Baby James 11-04-05 03:15 PM

Since everyone else is listing their also-rans, I'm game. These titles were remaining on my draft board, in alphabetical order:

Aztec Camera-High Land, Hard Rain
Patricia Barber-Cafe Blue
Everything But the Girl-Idlewild
Emmylou Harris-Wrecking Ball
Billy Idol-Rebel Yell
Rickie Lee Jones-Pirates
Lush-Split
Aimee Mann-Bachelor No. 2
Mavericks-Trampoline
Willie Nile-Golden Down
Outlaws-Outlaws
Graham Parker-Squeezing Out Sparks
Roxy Music-Avalon
Sade-Love Deluxe
Squeeze-Argybargy
10,000 Maniacs-In My Tribe
Waterboys-Fisherman's Blues
Lucinda Williams-Car Wheels on a Gravel Road.

I've enjoyed this draft game more than the others and can't wait for the voting. Thanks auto for setting this up.:)

I dunno, "A Mind is a Terrible Thing to Taste" and "The Land of Rape and Honey" are both more interesting and better, IMO. Maybe it's because those two albums were basically the soundtrack to my high school years. "Psalm 69" is a little after my time.

The Bus 11-04-05 03:21 PM

Wow.

We definitely need to do another one with no repeats from this time around. The second round seems to be a lot more interesting once we get the "Vh1 Presents Top Albums" list out of the way.

cleaver 11-04-05 03:27 PM

Next draft

1. Kevin Federline's new album
2. David Hasselhoff - America
3. David Hasselhoff - The Night Before Christmas
4. Celene Dion - The Complete Recordings
5. Yanni - Live at the Acropolis
6. Ashlee Simpson - I am me
7. Ashlee Simpson - Autobiography
8. William Shatner - Has Been
9. William Hung - Inspiration
10. Journey - Greatest Hits

Fandango 11-04-05 03:33 PM

Round 10: Shuggie Otis - Inspiration Information

"Mind" is a great album, don't get me wrong..."Psalm 69" was my introduction to Ministry and it blew me away...Their concert is still one of my favorites i've been too...Gotta love a triple bill of Sepultura, Helmet and Ministry.

Just a thought on album versions. Since once an album is drafted no one else can draft a different version of the same album, can we just dispense with versions and assume each album is chosen in its "best" version? It just seems kind of unnecessary to choose versions. I know I wouldn't vote for or against someone because they chose an original or a remaster or because they chose the version that comes with a DVD or bonus disc. Oh well, maybe it matters more to some people.

What does this mean? You thought about picking something you don't own? Who else did this?

It would've been a good choice. I considered Beat Happening, but couldn't decide on an album (same with Daniel Johnston).

cdollaz 11-04-05 03:53 PM

Here's what I had left:

Bowie - Station To Station, Ziggy Stardust S/T
Dead Kennedys - Fresh Fruit
Fishbone - The Reality Of My Surroundings
Iron Maiden - Powerslave
Hendrix - Electric Ladyland
King's X - Dogman
Zeppelin - Houses Of The Holy
Living Colour - Time's Up
Megadeth - Rust In Peace
Metallica - And Justice For All
Ozzy - Diary Of A Madman
Pixies - Trompe Le Monde
Queensryche - Mindcrime
REM - Document
Rollins Band - End Of Silence
Cure - Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me
Stones - some Girls
They Might Be Giants - Flood
ZZ Top - Deguello

cdollaz 11-04-05 03:53 PM

Not much metal was drafted. Same for country.

Good call. You could have mentioned this two weeks ago, though. ;)

Prolonging the Magic

Yeah, I had to reign myself in because I'd like to win. I wanted to throw on Powerslave and Paranoid, but I doubted those would be received well. Puppets and Blackwater Park are just too damn good to leave off though.

Mano 11-04-05 04:15 PM

Wow, if we do a round 11-20 I think my choices will be colored greatly by my love for techno/electronic/drum-n-bass music. I didn't pick any other than a personal fave this draft as I thought I wouldn't stand much of a chance to win. If we do another draft then I really won't stand a chance.

I noticed that, too. My Helmet pick could've been a big mistake.

At least I realized not to pack my list with hip-hop (there were a few more albums I was considering).

Just to justify my picking the deluxe edition of Yoshimi, it seems that there was overwhelming praise for the 5.1 mix here and elsewhere. And I figured, like some DVD collectors buy movies they don't necessarily love just to have a "demo disc," maybe some music fans do it, too. Even though I haven't heard this mix (yet), I chose that version just to cover some additional bases.

But I see your point.

I would have, but I didn't really think about it until a few days ago. I even specified a version in one of my early round picks.

In any event, it doesn't really matter. I've just decided that when I vote I won't hold choice of version against anyone. Others can do as they choose.
