Terry Kath on Chicago's '25 or 6 to 4'.

Cream/Clapton's wah on "White Room".

Disposable Heroes, Creeping Death- Metallica
Mr. Crowley, Believer - Ozzy Osbourne (Randy Rhodes)
Kissing The Shadows, Warheart - Children of Bodom
Highway Star - Deep Purple
Dead Flowers - Rolling Stones
Eruption, Spanish Fly - Van Halen
Moonage Daydream - David Bowie
Paranoid Android - Radiohead
Killed By Death - Motorhead

I'm sure there are others, but this is just off the top of my head.

Although they aren't technically hard or extremely fast, Paul McCartney's solo on "Taxman" and "Good Morning, Good Morning" are simply amazing.

Also the three Beatles solo on "The End."

My cliche vote goes to "Freebird" by Lynyrd Skynyrd...that is truely superb.

I'm sure I'm going to catch some flack for this, but the following has been one of my favorite guitar solo's ever...

Berton Averre's solo on the Knack's "My Sharona". The full length album version, and not the single version - which most are familair with - as half the solo I'm talking about isn't on that version.

Maybe not the greatest, but certainly underated.

The Allman Brothers Band - Blue Sky

The Knack's Berton Averre's guitar solo in "My Sharona" kicks ass. Stinky or otherwise.

Dick Dale's guitar action on the album "Tribal Thunder" (and others).

My favorites:

"Happy" by the Rolling Stones
The crazed wah-wah in "Don't" by Dinosaur Jr.
The live "Little Johnny Jewel" off of "The Blow Up" by Television, or the solo in "Marquee Moon" by the same band.
The long second solo on "Blue Sky" by the Allman Brothers
Jimmy Page going nuts with a slide on the Led Zeppelin dvd on "In My Time of Dying"
Eddie Hazel's immortal "Maggot Brain" on the Funkadelic album of the same name (actually equalled by his crushing solo in "Super Stupid" on the same album)
Lou Reed's fucked up mess on "Sister Ray"
Neil Young's opening work on "Country Home"
"Crazy Train" (obvious, but c'mon it fucking rocks), same goes for "Texas Flood" by SRV
Carlos Sanatana's "Soul Sacrifice" at Woodstock, right when the acid started to peak.
The combined acoustic/electric solo on "Supernaut" by Sabbath

Slash on "Paradise City" or "Sweet Child of Mine".

I'm not going to pretend to be a Beatles expert but I would think the solo on Taxman would be Harrison's it was his song and wasn't Paul mainly the bass player.

My vote Rory Gallagher "Walk on Hot Coals" from the "Irish Tour 74 " album.

Springsteen's solo on Warren Zevon's "Disorder in the House" is pretty cool.

Funny this thread was started i was just thinking about starting one this past sunday, i was at the gym listening to my headset and was jamming to "Autograph - Turn up the radio" what a kickass solo in the song...
