Thanks for the laugh though.
Hey, I am not saying that I listened to 500 albums over 50 times last year. At least there were some on that list (my top 15) were I listened to it quite excessively. When you work at a desk job where you can listen to hours upon of hours of nonstop music and write music reviews for a college radio station, it seems a little more realistic. So, you don't believe me. I am just stating that this year has been a drought and pretty much nothing but OK or good albums have come out this year. I have a list if you want it. I have listened to almost everything that has been talked about so far except that Minmae record that was listed in the first post. It is in my cue right now, though.

There is about a few albums this year that have came close to the 50 mark. The first being, "I am a Bird now" which is at 44 times, "Cripple Crow" at 41 times, the Hospitals' "I've Visted the Island of Jocks and Jazz" at 38 times, the "Kiki and Herb will Die for You" album at 35 times and the Sunday Sinners cd-r demo at 32 times. Worth noting, the new Sunburned Hand of the Man double album "Wedlock" has been listened to 12 times this week alone. Granted it is a live recording of a 2003 wedding, it is still wonderfully amazing.

Wolf Parade - At Mt. Zoomer (6/17)

Got my preorder in at Subpop - can't wait for this one! They are streaming the whole album on their myspace page right now, so far I'm liking it Will be nice to hear on vinyl rather than Myspace streaming however.

And a review of it - http://www.seattleweekly.com/2008-06...c/wolf-parade/

I got the LP from subpop direct for $12 + shipping. I think the CD was around there too.

Kissing the beehive is a kick ass tune!

I'm liking this more and more the more I listen to it. Standouts for me are

The Grey Estates
California Dreamers
Kissing the Beehive

Once they add keyboards to Rockband, they need some Wolf Parade in there!

a lot of what i've read heralds this as their best. i'm really into it, and have listened multiple times, but it doesn't top Apologies to the Queen Mary.

Agreed - while it's an excellent album, nothing on it grabbed me as hard as Ground for Divorce or I'll Believe in Anything from Apologies

Definitely without a doubt going to end up being in my top 5 albums of the year, I think I was the only person here that had their last album in my top 10 for that year. I absolutely love the second track & dig that they are trying something new with the first. Can't wait for this one.

I liked "Apologies...". That last album... not so much.

On the other hand, the last Sunset Rubdown album was terrific.

Mixed feelings...

Mt Zoomer wasn't as great as Apologies, total agreement there. All Sunset Rubdown is pretty much fantastic.

This is me too. I wanted to love Mt Zoomer so much but it just didn't click. Still haven't picked up the SR album. Need that too.

Sessa17, I'm with you.

I put At Mt. Zoomer at the top of my year end list. I liked everything about it. Hell, Wolf Parade might even end up becoming my favorite band if this new record plays well (and it should based on the first two tracks).

Count me in as someone who enjoys the Dan songs a slight bit more and I might be the only person who things Handsome Furs are head and shoulders better than Sunset.

Good to know there are other fans out there.

Wow, I'm the opposite. Don't get me wrong, I dig the Furs a lot - but to me Spencer is where it's at. Especially when teamed up in the other Super Group he's in

Zoomer was a good record - just not as good as Apologies. Some good, and one or two I tend to skip over... really dig California Dreamer, Kissing the beehive and Grey Estates.
