How do I create amd publish podcast file?

Hi, i'm interested in creating and publish the podcast for my professor's class. Do i need to buy the garageband or QT pro software to create or publish podcast, or could it be any MP3 converstion software? Thank you

You do not need Quicktime, an iPod, or iTunes to create a podcast. Any mp3 encoder is fine.
