What is the Killers' Mr. Brightside about?

I'd really prefer if someone had a link to an interview straight from the band. Is it really just a simple as someone knowing his girl is with another dude?

Thanks for the site info.

I do appreciate the link, but that's not what I'm after. I honestly could give two shits what some jackass' impressions of the song are. I was hoping that someone had read something from the band themselves.

But thanks again for the site link, cool to know there is stuff like that out there.

Yes. It's the Killers, do you really expect complex lyrics?

Groucho 08-20-05 09:12 PM

Mr. Brightside tells us "This my shit" and points out that said shit is "Bananas." What more do you need to know?

(Disclaimer: I may be mixing this up with another misunderstood song)

They're from Vegas.

Expecting complex lyrics from them is on par with expecting a stripper to recite the Treaty of Tripoli as she gives you a lap dance.

GatorDeb is from Vegas. You'd better hope she doesn't see your comments. :D

High expectations set you up for miserable failures.

From the Island Records' Killers' webpage:

“Mr Brightside” - a tale of jealousy that depicts that moment in a relationship when you realise that your other half might be playing away and this thought takes up residence in your psyche feeding the worst fears and visualisations your imagination can then throw at you.

Ha! I just got back from Vegas yesterday and there was one stripper that I talked to who was getting her doctorate in Holocaust studies at UNLV, interned in Auschwitz, and had access to the private library at the National Holocaust Museum (this topic got started by me mentioning that I used to live in DC). And then we talked about watching the Prime Minister's Q & A on C-SPAN, before my friends dragged me out of the club to go eat. Definitely the most interesting conversation I've had with a stripper, but not exactly sexy talk.

Still not sure if she was legit or had just read a book about the Holocaust.
