Stones set to make 'Bigger Bang' with album
39 minutes ago
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Mick Jagger is celebrating his 62nd birthday Tuesday with "A Bigger Bang."
The Rolling Stones announced that their upcoming tour and album will bear the alliterative title, which they came up with last year, "reflecting their fascination with the scientific theory about the origin of the universe," according to a statement.
"A Bigger Bang" will be released in the United States on Sept. 6 via Virgin Records, and a day earlier internationally. The North American leg of their trek, which had provisionally been dubbed the "Onstage" tour, begins on Aug. 21 at Boston's Fenway Park.
Next year, the band will play Mexico, South America, the Far East, New Zealand, Australia, and will reach Europe in the summer. No dates have been announced yet.
The album marks the band's first since 1997's "Bridges to Babylon," ending the longest recording break of their 43-year career. It boasts 16 tracks, two less then their expansive 1972 tour de force "Exile on Main Street."
Key cuts include "Streets Of Love," the first international single, and "Rough Justice," which is targeted to U.S. rock radio formats. Guitarist Keith Richards sings on two tracks, "This Place is Empty" and "Infamy." As with their previous two albums, "A Bigger Bang" was produced by Don Was.

I thought there was a thread discussing the new album but I can't dig it up. If someone posts a link I can delete this thread.

I heard ROUGH JUSTICE this morning on the radio. I really dug it. For 100-year-olds, they still sound better than the kids currently stinking up the charts.

THE ROLLING STONES accuse US President GEORGE W BUSH of being "full of sh*t" on their new album.
The track ’Sweet Neo Con’, one of the tracks on the forthcoming ’A Bigger Bang’, was already known to be fiercely anti-Bush.
However, frontman Mick Jagger's disdain for the American leader has now been confirmed, with Rolling Stones singer revealing some of the lyrics in an interview with Newsweek.
But the singer has revealed that guitarist Keith Richards, who lives in the US, is a bit worried about the direct nature of the words.
An extract from ’Sweet Neo Con’ features the following lines: "You call yourself a Christian, I call you u a hypocrite/You call yourself a patriot, well I think you're full of sh*t."
Jagger said of the track: “It is direct. Keith said: ‘It's not really metaphorical.’
”I think he’s a bit worried because he lives in the US. But I don’t.”
’A Bigger Bang’ is released on September 5 and is preceded by the single, ’Streets Of Love’ on August 22. The band begin their forthcoming world tour in Boston on August 21.

Any store exclusives with this release?

It's pretty darn good. Much better than Bridges. My initial feeling is that it is not as good as Voodoo Lounge, but then again that is one of my fave Stones albums.

Wow!
I am amazed! I seriously never thought they'd be able to pull off another album of good original material again, let alone something excellent! This really rocks! I like it even more than their last great album (Tattoo You, imo).
...and hey, it's 9.99 at best buy!

Picked it up at Best Buy tonight and am really digging it. They're coming to Little Rock this year, but the wife and I are going to skip it since she'll be VERY pregnant when they come through... oh well, not a bad trade-off I guess

I agree, they sound more organic on some songs here than they have in years. They haven't done much lately to disprove the image as rich old geezers cruising on the past, but this one is well worth the $10 if you're a Stones fan.

But the price of tickets are out of this world....
This is $160 ... Section 314 .. row 11 .. please you can't see anything from there.
Section 110 row 11? $450 plus My lord. I would never pay this but other people actually do?
