New Weird Al Album!

I just read about 1-2 weeks ago on his website this:

AL WITH THE BAND!
Al and the band are in the studio right now recording their next album.
And I forgot to post it on here. Didn't see it anywhere so I thought I might post it myself. GREAT NEWS! Hopefully by next May or June we'll have a new Weird Al album and a new tour! His live shows are so great!

Hooray! What do you think he'll parody on this disc? He seems to have a pattern down, Six originals, 4 parodies of 'recent' songs, 1 'style' parody, 1 parody using a 'classic' song.

A fair number of the originals are style parodies. I do agree with the tried-'n-true six originals, five parodies, and a polka formula that's been working so well for such a long time, though.

Great news! I can't wait to see another concert. Hopefully this time i can actually talk to the guy instead of being told he can only sign stuff.

Not his fault, tight schedule and all.

But i must admit that his concerts tend to have a very diverse crowd, and thats different than any other concert i have ever attended.

Oh this is awesome!

I met him back in November 1996. Along with the box set, I also brought the setlist I got from a show earlier that year for him to sign.

When I got up to him, I showed him the setlist and without missing a beat, he said "OH YOU'RE THE GUY THAT TOOK IT"

I wish I could meet the man. I've seen him 4 times in concert and have never been able to meet him.

On a somewhat off note, I met Micky Dolenz (of The Monkees) last month

Thanks for clarifying it was Mickey Dolenz of The Monkees that you met. Based on all the threads and posts you've made about the Monkees, and based on your user name and signature, I thought for a second you might have meant some other Mickey Dolenz.

Would you like to touch my Monkee?

I just hope I recognize the songs he's parodying, as I haven't been good about keeping up-to-date on new music the past year or two.

Agreed. This is more 'state of music' than Weird Al, but I've been disappointed in his last couple albums. They're still funny, and catchy, and creative, but the stuff he's parodying, for the most part, I am either not familiar with, or don't like at all. Whereas his older stuff was parodying 'my' music, so it was more of an injoke with me.

A parody of a Gwen Stefani song might be likely. She's had a lot of big hits lately.

i'm sure he'll parody something like American Idiot, probably a Maroon 5 track, Stefani and Kanye seem likely targets... I'd love to see weird al do a Polka version of Goodies by Ciara...

I look forward to more parody songs from him.

But i still think "Albuquerque" is the greatest song ever made.
