I would have loved to see that anniversary show and hope a soundboard bootleg comes out of it.

Re: Smashing Pumpkins to reform

Was thinking of seeing them in Boise, but saw it was cancelled. The prices are ridiculous for a band this old and past their fame. If I can get a cheap ticket elsewhere $50 or less for a non-shit seat I'm all in.

The Detroit concert is in 2 days and plenty of $25-30 tix available. You can get a decent seat for $50.

Re: Smashing Pumpkins to reform

The prices are kind of insane but the show is FANTASTIC. I grabbed a last minute $50 ticket yesterday and was blown away. The band hasn't sounded this good in years - Billy's vocals especially. Pumpkins came on at 8:15pm, played until 11:30pm. Great bang for your buck, setlist was excellent (a few duds and one large 4 song streak that almost lulled the audience to sleep) and the stage setup/video screens were well utilized. If you've ever been a fan and have interest in seeing them, DO IT. (Hard to justify those $175 asking price for the best tickets but damn if they don't almost make it seem worth it...for my $50 it was 100% worth it).

Re: Smashing Pumpkins to reform

I paid $103 a piece ($121 each after fees) for my 12th row tickets and they were worth every penny.

Lots of other groups don't give you have the show SP did and they still charge more for seats that far up.

Re: Smashing Pumpkins to reform

Saw them last night in Vegas. Also 8th Row, but unfortunately they cost more than $45 per seat.
The upper bowl was closed off but most of the lower bowl and all the floor was occupied. My mother does House Seats where you join for $45 a year and get offered free seats to Vegas shows when they're not selling out. Rarely do they get rock concerts but they were available for this, so that explains why it looked as full as it did.

I really liked the show. Long and thorough. Billy's voice is still the same. Not a super-exciting show, but very professional and well done.

Everything after Zeitgeist is incredibly weak overall IMHO. Their last record was atrocious. Maybe with Iha back in the fold it will be more of a return to classic pumpkins but he never really wrote anything anyway.

Last night's Siamese Dream 30th anniversary concert from Billy's suburban Chicago tea shop (decorated to look like a Tower Records)

Re: Smashing Pumpkins to reform

I loved the popular songs on Siamese Dream. But it was never an album that I would play beginning to end.

I played Melon Collie beginning to end a lot, for about 10 years. Still listen to it sometimes.

I've listened to newer singles over the years. But Those two albums were the special ones.
