Hmm, for having the best range, i'd say Jordan Knight. Aren't he and Mariah Carey the only singers in the world who have 6 or 7 vocal range?
As far as my favorite male singer, Harry Connick Jr. "My Funny Valentine?" C'mon! |

I guess there aern't too many Daryl Hall fans out there. His soulfoul voice (for a white guy no less) stacks up against just about anobody
Always loved Steve Perry's power vocals as well |

excellent choice. I forgot about him he did same great music when he was with the Doobie Brothers "What A Fool Believes" is one of my all time favourite songs Forgot to mention Carl Wilson of The Beach Boys. He had a beautiful angelic voice |
Can't believe I'm the first to add Mike Patton (Faith No More, Fantomas, Mr Bungle etc.) to the listing.
His range is pretty amazing, his lung power is amazing, and throw in his creativity for an extra kick. I like the thought that he's experimental enough to record things that aren't likely to sell (Adult Themes for Voice) and to go all over the musical map: pop metal w/ FNM, a more hybrid form and slightly more extreme with Bungle, putting out albums with 40 tracks roughly a minute or two each or an album with one 70 minute long song (both in Fantomas), a bit of trip hop experience in "Lovage", and now apparently trying out a more...I guess hip hop-ish type style, apparently having exchanged "tapes" with the X-ecutioners and then doing his thing over it in General Patton v. The X-ecutioners. |

Peter Gabriel - my all time favorite
Tom Waits - many are put off by his voice. I love it. Thom Yorke - Listen to Fake Plastic Trees and disagree with me! oh and of course, Frank Black/Black Francis. |

My favorite is Bernard Sumner of New Order.
Best, IMO, may be Peter Gabriel. A voice of authority, wisdom and warmth. oh, you guys are right, Prince is a definite. |
How could I forget Van Morrison. Definitely on my list!
Listening to Have I Told You Lately right now. God I hate that Rod Stewart for ruining great songs by covering them (this song, Downtown Train/Waits, etc.). |
