Dave Matthews Band: Stand up

Thought I'd get a thread started for this by posting the pre-order deal.

You can preorder the dual disc for $15 or the plain CD for $14. Shipping is a little high ($5.49 standard, $9.99 to get it on release day or before), and tax as well. ORders ship on May 6 (release is May 10). Came to $21.50 for the dual disc for me after tax and shipping.

However, it's a still a pretty good deal due to getting an exclusive bonus CD with 2 B-sides and 3 other live tracks, and you can also get a free 1 year subscription to Rolling Stone (option will be in your shopping cart).

Here's the bonus CD track info:

1. Joyride

-taken from the Stand Up sessions

2. Trouble with You

-taken from the Stand Up sessions

3. Recently

7.13.04 Darien Lake Performing Arts Center, Darien Center, NY

4. Crash Into Me

7.20.2004 Tweeter Center at the Waterfront, Camden, NJ

5. Hello Again

7.29.2004 Ford Amphitheatre, Tampa, FL
And here's a link to preorder:

Some slightly dissappointing news...I just read that only 1 song on the album was played live last summer.

They played 5 new songs when I saw them and I really liked 3 of them. Oh well, with any luck the 3 I liked will be the 1 on the album and the 2 B-sides on the bonus CD.

Thanks for the info Josh. That's a little hefty for me considering how disappointing I feel his last 3 albums were (at least when compared to his first two utter gems). I'll just pick it up at BB on release day and d/l (legally, of course) the b-sides which I'm sure will be on iTunes.

Hello Again was played live last summer. snippets of Old Dirt Hill can be heard playing in one of the studio videos on their new album site. i think this one is going to be a good cd although i would have liked to see a few more new songs from the 2004 tour on there. oh well.

Here's the track-listing for the bonus cd if you're a warehouse member:
1. Joyride
-taken from the Stand Up sessions

2. Trouble with You
-taken from the Stand Up sessions

3. Recently
7.13.04 Darien Lake Performing Arts Center, Darien Center, NY

4. Crash Into Me
7.20.2004 Tweeter Center at the Waterfront, Camden, NJ

5. Hello Again
7.29.2004 Ford Amphitheatre, Tampa, FL

6. Sugar Will
9.3.2004 The Gorge Amphitheatre, George, WA

7. Typical Situation
9.4.2004 The Gorge Amphitheatre, George, WA

8. Mark and Carter Jam
-taken from the Stand Up sessions

I'll have to hear the full album to really decided whether or not I like the decision, but as of right now I'm disappointed that Joyride didn't make the cut. It's one of my favorites among the new material. Although Hello Again is a great song.
Oh yeah, the song Crazy/Easy that was played a lot last year is supposedly on the album but under a new name.

The B-sides are all apparantly from last years tour, but the studio cuts..

Joy Ride
Sugar will?
Crazy Easy

I think thats it.

Either ways, his live albums, and the song versions, are always much better live IMO

In the past the express shipping has been a joke. Most get it same day via normal shipping, especially if you are on the east coast.

After the joyride studio clip I must say it deserves to be a b-side.

Yeah, I just listened to a sample of it, and I agree. I loved the one on Live Trax 2, but that studio cut was definately missing something. I hope I don't end up getting that vibe from the other new songs.

VH1.com is streaming the entire album for those that can't wait a week.
I'd be all over it, but their player doesn't support Mac.

I'm waiting for it to leak, I can't stand those streams. Should be leaked any day or any hour really.

I've got it qued(sp?) up, but it's only giving me a second or two of sound followed by 30 seconds of silence.

Hey Tom, sorry I couldn't see this earlier. The Mac that we use at the studio is really GHETTO. Did that keep happening?

A friend of mine who listens in Florida said she was having the same problem initially..

It's all good. It did keep happening, but it's probably something on my end, not yours. I'll give it a shot next week and see if it's any better. It sounded like you were playing from Busted Stuff around when I last tried to connect.

Ah.

Yeah, I played some tracks from "the Lillywhite Sessions". I prefer some of those versions compared to "Busted Stuff".

I wasn't too keen on this album at first listen, but I've warmed up to many of the songs. Louisiana Bayou is my favorite and is ridiculously catchy.

I just ordered the 'pre-order' disc tonight, but I was curious as to what the audio specs for the Dual Disc are - is this 5.1 or 24-bit 2 channel stereo?

So the CD version leaked, and listening to it. Good, but needs many more listens of course. No way I can get a feel for it yet. Still not sure if I'm gonna buy it or not.

A word of warning....the dualdisc is NOT 24-bit like the dmband site states.

Blatant false advertising.

edit: the cd is copy-protected and many can't rip it

I just picked up the new disc at lunch and caught the first couple tracks. I'm not sure what I think about them, but I think its safe to say that Baston steered them in a different direction.
