Wondering if this thread refers to albums that have mostly hits or if they encompass most of the hits for that artist's career.

If the latter, R.E.M., Pearl Jam, and U2 do not belong in this thread, and I nominate:

Live - Throwing Copper
Jeff Buckley - Grace

Well either way, Pearl Jam would belong, between Ten and Vs. that is most of their hits of their career when compared to 2-3 hits per album after that. If you look at it as hits per album, same thing, Ten and Vs. are solid from beginning to end.

I'm close to agreeing with that, but it has a couple of serious duds in "Cover Me" and "Downbound Train".

My picks for albums that play like Greatest Hits collections are, first and foremost Tom Cochrane's Tom Cochrane and Red Rider (1986) (only one weak song in "Ashes to Diamonds"), the best non-compilation album I've ever heard, and all three main albums by Strange Advance: in descending order, The Distance Between (1988), Worlds Away (1983), and 2wo (1985). Masterpieces all.
I'd also add Bruce Hornsby's The Way it is (1986) and The Blue Nile's Hats (1989).

Third Eye Blind- Third Eye Blind

A lot of great ones have already been named, but I'll add a bunch more. These are all some of my favorite albums that not only had multiple big hits but also many hidden gems that could have been huge but were just never released as singles.

The Beatles - Rubber Soul ~ Help! ~ Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band - Revolver ~ Magical Mystery Tour ~ Abbey Road ~ Let It Be (eh i'll stop there...to me just about every album of theirs is like a greatest hits collection on its own) :)

Madonna - Like a Prayer ~ True Blue
The Who - Who's Next
Blondie - Parallel Lines
The Doors - The Doors
Beach Boys - Pet Sounds
Joni Mitchell - Blue
Jimi Hendrix - Are You Experienced (although he only had one official "hit" with the "All Along the Watchtower" cover, this album has most of his best-known songs)
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Blood Sugar Sex Magik
George Michael - Faith
Carole King - Tapestry
Simon and Garfunkel - Bookends ~ Bridge Over Troubled Water
Mariah Carey - Music Box ~ Daydream ~ Butterfly
Boyz II Men - Cooleyhighharmony ~ II
Shania Twain - The Woman in Me ~ Come on Over
Whitney Houston - Whitney Houston
Snoop Dogg - Doggystyle
Dr. Dre - The Chronic

It's kinda hard to pick one by Stevie Wonder for this thread, since his hits were really spread out over many albums, but I'll go with Songs in the Key of Life

Albums that had a large majority of that band's hits:
Bush - Sixteen Stone
The Black Crowes - Shake Your Money Maker
Oasis - (What's the Story) Morning Glory?

And finally, not any huge hits here, but these two albums are full of great singles:
Big Star - #1 Record ~ Radio City
