at least they are helping us that got screwed by internet presales for garbage and interpol at 9:30 club by having those 2 bands play.

That's a freakin awesome lineup. I'd definitely go.

A few good bands, but I hate it when headlining-capable bands get short sets. That's why I never go to festivals. There are only 5 bands on there that I would possibly be interested seeing:

They Might Be Giants - See them headline every time they come to town

Billy Idol - seeing him headline later this month

Garbage - Seen them before and if the new album is as shitty as the last, I have no interest in seeing them again

Coldplay - Never seen, hopefully will on their next tour

Foo Fighters - Saw them on their last tour, it was OK but if I never see them again I will not really care much.

So this festival does not really offer much for me.

How is there an HFSetival without an HFS? :hscratch:

they are on now live 105.7 in baltimore nights and weekends, which is a mostly talk radio station in baltimore.

Quite an eclectic mix there, but I'd never give my hard earned money to SUM 41 or Good Charlotte.

man, that's what i miss most about baltimore - going to the annual hfstival...is it still $15??

I agree, however I'm still going... Is there going to be a Dance Tent/stage (like they have done in the past)?

Knocked out of the ballpark, HFStival heads to Baltimore

The HFStival will be back again this year, but like its namesake radio station, it will no longer call Washington home.
The alternative rock concert, previously held at RFK Memorial Stadium, will be held at Baltimore's M&T Bank Stadium <http://www.bizjournals.com/search/bin/search?q=%22Baltimore's%20M%26T%20Bank%20Stadium%22> on May 14, according to tour-date information posted on Web sites of participating bands.
This year's invited bands are said to include Unwritten Law, Social Distortion, NY Dolls, Sum 41, Bravery, Interpol, Muse, Garbage and Billy Idol.
The future of the HFStival was put in question after its chief organizer, WHFS (99.1 FM), suddenly switched to an all-Spanish music format in January. WHFS recently found a new home at 105.7 FM in Baltimore, which has a talk-radio format during the day and plays alternative rock at night and on the weekends.
The station says it will announce full details of the festival on March 28.
The HFStival has routinely lured more than 50,000 attendees each year, but for what it's worth, RFK won't be sitting silent while rock fans travel north. D.C.'s newest stadium-crowd please, the Nationals, will be hosting the Chicago Cubs <http://www.bizjournals.com/search/bin/search?q=%22Chicago%20Cubs%22> on May 14.

i do have one question, is it most likely going to be the general admissions seats is also for the field/pit as well? since i know there is a "club" section for 65 bucks. and in order to get close to the stage about how early before doors open should i get there?

I had wished that The Killers and/or the Kaiser Chiefs might have got included in on the festivities.

i think the killers were at miss nutcracker in december, and hfs from what i recall rarely if ever uses the same band for both festivals.

stupid policy... I had missed the Nutcracker thinga-ma-jig which incidently as I recall was my birthday (Dec.2).

You don't have to get there early at all. You can get pretty close basically any time you want.

i just don't want there to be a huge line and be at the back or in the middle of the pit if i get there say 10 or 1030 am since thats when doors open.

Is the tickets for this selling well? I went over last Saturday to the Friendship Heights Hechts and I was second in line at 12 noon.

No. I'd love to see Coldplay and Foo Fighters, but I'll wait for their tours when they'll play longer sets and I don't have sit through the other crap.

Plus I hate stadiums shows, prefer clubs or pavillions.

according to the hfs website, the club seats were sold out. i guess if you do the ticketmaster route, ga tix will end up costing more then if you went to the stadium.
and where at Hechts (your talking about the department store right?) can you purchase tix?

Wait a minute...The New York Dolls? The New York Dolls!?! Is this the original (surviving) members? They'd all have to be about 60 by now. Will they be in drag? What's going on here? Is there a new band by that name?

Too many people and traffic mainly, and the bad seats are much worse (further away) than the worst "seats" in a club or pavillion.

what is a good time to get to the stadium if you wanted to be in the pit close to the stage?

From my experience at festivals, you can probably show up a couple hours before the first big band (probably Good Charlotte in this case) and get right up front.

People come and go during the early bands.

I'd say Interpol and Garbage are just as big (for HFS listeners at least).

There's just too many lukewarm bands for me to want to go.

Yeah, but it will probalby clear out some after Garbage as the next couple bands are lesser known among the younger crowd.

damn, i heard from a friend that the best bet is to get there say 8 or 9 in the morning.
does anyone know how this thing has done ticket sales wise?

and at least they are letting bands do 35-40 minute sets. it takes ususally like 10 or 15 minutes to set up for the next band right?

Well, when I caught lollapallozza a couple summers ago the line up in play order was:

The Distillers
The Donnas
Jurrassic Five
Queens of the Stone Age
Incubus
Audioslave
Janes Adiction

The pit didn't get full until during Incubus (was half full or so when they started) and emptied out almost completely after every act up until Incubus where it stayed full from there on.

I've not been to an HFStival so maybe it's differnt. I doubt it with the sucky early line up though.

Set up time varies. 15 mins or so for smaller bands, 20-30 for the big bands in my experiences.

And keep in mind that even if you get there at 8-9 a.m. and get a spot right up front, you won't be able to stand there all day as you have to eat, drink and use the restroom. It's not like a 2-3 hour concert where you can get there at opening and stand there the whole time. :D

sad and pathetic and two words that pop into my mind that 22% percent of those who answered this poll are THAT excited to see Good Charlotte - whatever.

well, good charlotte are the home towm boys (they are out of waldorf just outside of DC)

actually the band I am most wanting to see is Echo and the Bunnymen - I have never seen them live (and I love their music).

i guess you must have been serverly disapointed in them right? apparently (i was getting food) they played half a song, walked off, came back on to attempt to sing (the lead singer said his throat hurt) the same song, and walked right off.

I actually had to leave right before good charlotte came on since my glasses got broken in the pit during social distortion. boy some of these mother fuckers were crazy. half the time during their set (and i think louis xiv as well), i was litterally squashed as people just keep fuckin pushing forward. also these heavy ass people that weigh like 250 should not be crowd surfing. if i can figure out how to post pics, i will try to get them on soon. and for shits and giggles, i even did one crowd surf at the begining of garbage's set. and they even dropped me as well (im only 120)

Except for David Johansen, I thought all the major band members were dead. I haven't heard about him pimping a "New York Dolls" featuring himself and a bunch of nobodys, but he might well be.

like yeah, after Garbage's set my friend and I left.. what a lame festival, it also didn't help that we missed nearly half of Stereophonics set.

Yow. I heard a recording of Echo and the Bunnymen's brief performance at this festival. It was sad and depressing. I would have been really upset if I'd been there. They used to put on fantastic performances, and I've liked some of their recent records, too.

upset is an understatement - I couldn't believe it. I thought I heard somewhere that another album is slated to appear sometime within the year - by then if and when a US tour happens maybe Ian won't have throat problems - unreal, I am still really angry about this.
