I just downloaded this song. First of all, I don't hear any strings, unless you count the acoustic guitar as "strings". Next, it doesn't sound like a sample. It's a guy playing two chords on a guitar over and over. If there's another song out there that repeats Am and EM7 ad nauseum, you may have your song, but I think this one is original.....at least as original as this something from this genre can get.

Can I delete this download now? ;)

Picturing danol as an emcee makes me laugh. Haha.

It takes about as much time to write a modern pop-rock song as it does to find an old record to jack. If we're comparing the worst of the genre, let's compare the worst of all genres. I doubt that if you listened to some RJD2 and cunninlynguists, who are just a couple examples of creative samplers, you'd think it's anything less than an art. You might not like it or whatever, but undeniably it's creative, unique, and intelligent.

Rap music in its essence is about lyrical ability, which is why sampling is accepted in the genre. The artist isn't judged on the music behind them, but on what they can do with words. I would argue that the average Jay-Z song has a lot more lyrical complexity than the average Sum 41 song.

Couldn't have said it better man

I just think it's sad that the likes of Mariah, J-Lo, and others can't seem to put out a good pop song anymore without having to mess it up by including some "rap crap" in with it. I don't think it's necessary to keep remixing good songs and adding rap to them.

It's hardly a "phase" when you consider that rap and hip-hop have been around for about 25+ years now. People thought it would die initially but everyone gave up that idea in the late 80's. It's here to stay. Love it or leave it.

Tally my vote "leave it".

my favorite is the song that sampled "She Blinded Me With Science". I was coming back from lunch with some people from work and they were flipping through the radio stations and I heard the sample but couldn't place it. Like 30 seconds later it hit me and of course since none of them were familar with the original song, they looked at me like I had three heads.
