Quirky Australian pop/dance act Frente is prepping its first album in eight years. Its 1992 debut, "Marvin the Album," shipped 750,000 units worldwide, according to Australian label Mushroom; a cover of New Order's "Bizarre Love Triangle" reached No. 10 on Billboard's Modern Rock Tracks chart. The four-piece based around vocalist Angie Hart and guitarist Simon Austin split acrimoniously in 1996 after sophomore set "Shape."

Hart moved to Los Angeles and formed the band Splendid with her guitarist husband, Jesse Tobias. In 2004, she began writing again with Austin, who lives in New York. After U.S. club dates as a duo, they called Bill McDonald (bass) and Peter Luscombe (drums) for Australian shows in January and released the EP "Try to Think Less" on Melbourne-based Popboomerang Records.

Hart says Frente's album will likely have an early 2006 release. She adds that she hopes to avoid the mistakes of Frente's previous success: "I was 17 at the time, and I didn't handle it well."

Early 2006 release? I'll wait here.

I was playing a cd by Angie Heaton today and Mrs. Pusser said "Is that Frente?".

I LOVE Frente's version of "Open Up Your Heart and Let the Sun Shine In" from the Saturday Morning Cartoons' Greatest Hits cd.

The song was originally in a Flintstones episode.

That is a great version of the song. I never realized that she was only 17 when the band got popular. I still frequently play their Labour of Love EP.

Yes that's a good song. Forgot it was on the cd. Check out my friends cut on there. Liz Phair and Material Issue do the Banana Splits song "Tra La La".

I watched them record it in an LA studio while I was visiting the city.
