Exact same here. I got the $50 GA tickets but that's because of proximity, not price. I'd have no problem paying more for my favorite band once every few years...

I think the last concert I saw was Tool, and I think the tickets were $50...They were a birthday present so I didnt pay for them. The only bands I would pay more than $20 to see are not around anymore so thats my limit for now.

Paid $65 to see KISS on their reunion tour because I thought it was going to be their last. Then I did it again 4 years later. That's the most I've ever paid for a band though. Mostly go to local club shows. $15 tops.

U2 has become the arena rock band they helped destroy in the 80's. they still make good music but that is wayyyy too much for a ticket.

Doesnt KISS have a "final" reunion tour like...every other year or something?

The only tickets I have spent more than $20 on, ever, have been Elvis Costello tickets, and only because he does a good, long show. Otherwise, I refuse to shell out ridiculous amounts of money. Everything else I see is at clubs where I can get tickets at the door, and Ticketbastard can go screw themselves.

The shows I see are generally $8-$20, though I have spent just under $40 one time. I love live music and see tons of smaller shows, but it just isn't worth upwards of $50 for a concert, IMO.

I also hate Ticketmaster and their "convenience" charges so I tend to avoid any concert they are involved with.

I used them once for a show three hours away. The tix were $10 each and the TM charge was $6-8 each (can't remember).

$25 to $30 max, with service fees.

I'd never pay to see any of the "major" rock acts on the road these days... U2 ticket prices are absurd.

$160 for 1 U2 ticket? Are those for the nosebleed section? Is there an opening artist? Talk about sticking it to the fans. So they make a few million per 2 hour show? Are they that hard up for cash? Stand outside, you can probably catch a glimpse of Bono's head from the parking lot. What happened to all the Pearl Jams of the world? Sheesh.

IMO, no artist is worth that. My favorite band, Dream Theater, only charges around $20 and they put on an over 3 hour show. At this price I can go see them on every tour, buy merchandise, and not have to take out a loan. But to each their own I guess.

The only high prices I've paid were for multiple artists:
$100 - Elton John & Billy Joel, like two full concerts at $50 each.
$80 - Summer Sanitarium '00. Metallica, Korn, Kid Rock, System of a Down, Powerman 5k.

Everything else

I think I should add that I would pay a lot to see a Pink Floyd reunion. They could charge $150, and I'd probably put some serious thought into seeing them.

Since I'm 24, and have only been going to concerts for about 5 years, I missed them during their go.

~$120 for two tickets with all fees is my current limit. Although I'm considering travelling to New Orleans for JassFest, and the hotel itself could run $200+ per night.

I love KISS & went with my sister & brother last summer. I had to fork over money for 2 of the tickets, at about $60 a piece I think. It was my sister's birthday. Anyway, while watching the concert I find out that if I would have spent the $10 more for each ticket for the better section I would have gotten to be in the section of the audience that Paul flies over, argh. Anyway i actually offered to foot the bill for my sister & I to go again to their next concert a couple of days later, but she said she wouldn't feel right about. I thought it was that good. However I did get screwed last summer when 2 concerts I bought really close seats for (2nd row for one & 5th row for the other) were cancelled. I had bought them on ebay. I eventually (after like 5 months) got back my money from one seller, but the other seller promised the refund, never gave it, stopped answering emails & was eventually tossed from ebay (probably for doing this to other buyers). So I got my $130 back for 2 tickets to 1 concert, but never got my $180 back for tickets to the other. My expensive lesson? Always buy your tickets from ticketmaster. I thought that the Madonna tickets last year were ridiculous. I think they were like $200 a piece for crap seats. My sister & I like Madonna, but I never would've paid those prices. Later I found out my foolish cousin & his wife took out a home loan of atleast $40,000 & were spending tons of it on attending Madonna concerts. They even travelled to England after seeing her various times in the US! The best price I've heard of for a ticket? My father told me he saw the Rolling Stones way back when before they were famous, for free.

Starting with this past year the average number of shows I go to is probably in the low one hundred range. I usually go to one (and sometimes two) jazz shows at my favorite club every week; which only cost $3 or $5 and up to about $10 at most. Other than that, I'll see tons of other shows there which are usually from about $8 to $15.

Maybe once a year I'll go to a bigger venue and pay about $25 for a ticket. Ticketmaster's service charges are a pain, but at least they only rob me for about $6 for the stuff I see. It's a tad worse if you do it online because they charge the normal service charge plus a $5 "Internet Service Charge" that they don't mention at all until after you've put your order in.

Hell no would I ever pay more that fifty bucks for a concert unless it was one I was dying to see, perhaps DM or Prince. Saw U2 twice, and both times I shelled out 50 plus dollars. Both instances left me disappointed, though it may have been the cavernous, acoustically abhorrent dome where the concerts took place. If it were a smaller, intimate venue and the band was right, I could see myself paying more, but it all depends.

There are a few bands I would pay through the nose for. U2 was one of them back in the 80s when they were a rock band.

Will U2 be doing a second leg of their U.S. tour in some southern states, or will they be regulated to the Urban North? I really want to see them, but I don't feel like driving to Chicago for it.

Again, spent about $600 to see Madonna 4 times last summer. Best concert I've ever seen.

U2 will be doing a second U.S. leg of the tour in the fall, but locations have not been hinted at; during Popmart, I saw them in Kansas City, so I'm inclined to think they'll move in a more Southerly direction again...

I know it's late, but I went to U2 May's concert and tickets were about $100 each and we were all the way on the top.

I just spend $600 on 4 U2 general admission tickets for there September concert.

I think it's worth it. I mean it's fun and it's not often that we go.

Really depends on the act (and I'm including comedy acts here too). Also depends on the size of the venue.

If, for example, people I really like (like Tori Amos) plan on playing for an audience of 30-40 odd people and the act is mere metres away from me, then I'd more than happily pay $200 for it. If, however, I'm in an audience of '000s of people and it's a stadium type deal, then I'd probably view the same concert as being worth less (say $40 - $50).

'Retirement' acts also would cause me to spend a little more money than I might usually as it might be the last chance I ever get to see them. We happily paid $100 to see 'The Goodies' in concert (British comedy trio) as it's probably the last time I'll ever get the chance.

The BEST concert experience I've had was seeing Midge Ure (of Ultravox) play in a room full of people (around 200 people). Tickets were about $10 each and I sat on the floor about 5 feet away from him.

I will gladly pay more for closer tickets. Latest is 3 tickets for Eagles for $275.00 each.
