I know it is sort of cheesey, but Rock Me Amadeus by Falco is probably my #1 (at least at this moment).

My second-favorite song of the 80's would probably be Girls With Guns by Tommy Shaw. Remember that one?

Inbetween Days - The Cure
Atlantic City - Bruce Springsteen
Tempted - Squeeze
Everybody Wants To Rule The World - Tears For Fears
Fall On Me - REM
and I'll second Every Breath You Take.
edit : I need a judge's ruling on this one: Does The Clash's "Train In Vain" count? I love that song (and so has my daughter since she was about 1 1/2 years old). The album London Calling was released in very late 1979, but is widely considered one of the greatest albums of the 80's. So if it's considered an '80's song, I'll include it.

Rock the Casbah---The Clash
I'm a huge Clash fan and have most everything they've released, but this song is my favorite--an uncategorizable, cross-pollination of numerous musical styles, and the lyrics to it just completely define what the band was about, IMO.

This question is hard! I have too many favorites...
Strangelove - Depeche Mode
Lovecats - The Cure
Nemesis - Shriekback
How Soon Is Now - The Smiths
Not Too Soon - The Throwing Muses
Should I Stay Or Should I Go - The Clash
Punk Rock Girl - Dead Milkmen
Bitchin' Camaro - Dead Milkmen
Genius of Love - Tom Tom Club
Wild Thing - X
Bizarre Love Triangle - New Order
...I could just keep going, but those songs are the first to pop into my head. I've loved them for about 20 years, and I fully expect to never tire of them.

My most cherished song of all time, not just the '80s, "The Boy Inside the Man" by Tom Cochrane. What a gorgeous, rousing piece of music!

You must have a hard time finding specific songs on your CDs.
