Pitchforkmedia.com - New Layout

Anyone check out the new design over at Pitchfork this morning? I don't like it. I much prefer the old version. Seemed more user friendly.

Don't like it much at all, but I also thought their old layout was pretty lousy and confusing. Way too many divisions and subareas. New one's not much different, just new colors and fonts.

Don't really like the new site layout at all. I do like their new logo though.

I liked how most of the important stuff was "above the fold" before, and the only daily content that extended past that point was the remainder of that day's reviews. The old layout made it a lot easier to, at a glance, see what was new. Now it's a lot more scattershot, the left sidebar is a waste, and it's a lot more cumbersome to see what's just been added if you're a daily visitor.

I agree about the logo, though. Too bad about everything else.

I actually like the new design, the old one was almost unusably counter-intuitive and ugly.

If you want to see an (IMO) awful redesign of a music review site, compare the bloated allmusic of today to the ugly but fast and easy to use design of the past.

I've always found Pitchfork's reviews be like reading the biased, straining-to-be-hip rantings of Jack Black in High Fidelity. Guys, a band that goes platinum or displays pop chops doesn't automatically suck.

Ugly or not, it's one of the better music review sites out there. Out of all the reviews I've read, there's only been a handful I've strongly disagreed with.

Don't like the new layout and I pretty much loved the old one. Hopefully I can get used to it because you already know damn well they're not going to change it.

the new layout is AWFUL, bring back the old one.

I want my ultra-elitist reviews of obscure records nobody will ever hear to be in a much more user-friendly format.

I don't mind the new layout. Doesn't seem all that different to me.

I enjoy the new layout, but I don't think they write all that great of reviews. The ones that just give a review of the album are usually good. The problem is the reviewers who think they are literary talents.

Great, a new layout for the most pretentious website on the internet.

While I like visiting mainly for info on new bands that come out, I do agree with what you say.

It never fails to crack me up how many music fans complain about Pitchfork but still read it.

I don't really see anything wrong with it but I'd never heard of the site so I'm not familiar with how it was before.
