I got it at Best Buy. It was $14.99, but I think it's worth it (not to mention that it's the first time I've bought a new copy of a Ben Folds [Five] CD, as opposed to getting a used copy).

From what I've heard so far, it's good. Just him & the piano... Covers all the BFF CDs and his solo debut. Just serves to make me more excited about seeing him next friday in Philly...

I still haven't checked out the DVD yet, but I'll do that later tonight.

The song list (from www.benfolds.com):

1. One Angry Dwarf And 200 Solemn Faces (Live Album Version)
2. Zak And Sara (Live Album Version)
3. Silver Street (Live Album Version)
4. Best Imitation of Myself (Live Album Version)
5. Not The Same (Live Album Version)
6. Jane (Live Album Version)
7. one down (Live Album Version)
8. Fred Jones Part 2 (Live Album Version)
9. Brick (Live Album Version)
10. Narcolepsy (Live Album Version)
11. Army (Live Album Version)
12. The Last Polka (Live Album Version)
13. Tiny Dancer (Live Album Version)
14. Rock This Bitch (Live Album Version)
15. Philosophy (inc Misirlou) (Live Album Version)
16. The Luckiest (Live Album Version)
17. Emaline (Live Album Version)
DVD Video

1. Not The Same (Live Video Version)
2. Philosophy (inc Misirlou) (Live Video Version)
4. "Album Art Antics" (Live Video Version)
5. Eddie Walker (Live Video Version)
6. The Ascent Of Stan (Live Video Version)
7. Tiny Dancer (Live Video Version)
8. Song For The Dumped (Live Video Version)

It was $13.99 at Circuit City this afternoon, but unfortunately there was only one copy and it was the edited version, so I passed. Target didn't have it (not a shock). I'll probably head on over to Best Buy tomorrow after work.

It's also missing "Underground", "steven's last night in town", "battle of who could care less", or some other good songs.

Guess that's why you've gotta see him live.

Hard to believe it is missing "Gone." He rocked so hard on it in concert. I want to pick it up but I want the best price as well. wherehouse has it for $13.99. Deepdiscountcd has it for $10.97 but they have no pic, no notes, & no songlist which makes me kind of nervous.

I am really miffed, I went to Circuit City, Best Buy, and Olssons Books and Records (where I work part time) and not a copy to be found, was it really released yesterday?? Gonna check Borders near my house, but it's a mystery as to why no one has this disc.

I went to Best Buy and a different Target today, with no luck. I do know that the edited version exists.

Well, I got the disc a week or so ago & I think it is top notch. It is amazing how good it sounds with just Ben and a piano. I still would have liked to have some other songs on it but I am sure everyone would have their own set list they would like to hear. Any one else buy it & what do you think?

The free dvd is a pretty cool addition. It has made me decide to buy the Ben Folds Five dvd (which is currently only $11.99 at deepdiscount!).

One song that I have fallen in love with is "One Down." What an awesome song! I have done some searches for it & found that it is only released on some dang import cd singles. He has 3 or 4 different ones & I was just curious if anyone has any of them & which ones are the best? Also...what is the reference to "3.6" in the song "One Down?" Maybe I am just hearing it wrong or missing exactly what he is saying.

Can't wait for him to release a new studio album. Anyone hear any rumors?

To answer your questions. "Gone" and "Underground" aren't on there because he only played those a few shows last tour so be lucky that you actually heard it in concert. He just recently started playing "Steven's Last Night in Town" in the past couple weeks but not from the summer tour, from which this cd is recorded.

One Down is a great song, a b-side to the "still fighting it" single i think.

Other ones i would check out: "Hiro's Song", "Secret Life of Morgan Davis"

The song is about Ben being forced to write a certain number of songs for his record contract to get paid a certain amount of cash or something. The 4.6 songs are made up of b-sides "One Down", "Make Me Mommy", "Secret Life of Morgan Davis", "Girl" and album song on Rockin' the Suburbs "Losing Lisa". "Losing Lisa" is only .6 because Ben gave his wife Frally Hynes writing credit because she was the one who got him to finish recording the song (he originally was going to just release an 11 song album.

The live cd is amazing, i would definitely pick it up if any of you are still skeptical.

Well, if you would pick it up, I'm no longer skeptical.

I saw him in Philly 3 weeks ago (or so) and he broke out Steven's Last Night in Town. Actually, it's kinda funny... I posted about how those songs were missing before I saw him, so I wasn't expecting them at all... Anyway, "Stevens" was amazing. I don't know if any of you might be going to see him in concert, so i'll go into spoiler mode:

Spoiler:

At the end of the song, one of the stage hands brings over a drum & 2 drum sticks to Ben. Ben starts playing the drums & the two of them go walking (while Ben is still playing) around to the end of the piano. The stagehand then set down the drum & while Ben is playing that, the other stagehands start setting up a drumset around him. As soon as they bring him another drum, he starts incorporating that into the drum solo... It was really, really sweet.

Wow. This came under the radar for me.

I saw Ben in concert here last December, and when he sung all of the songs like Underground, Song For The Dumped, etc the audience sang Robert and Darren's parts.

I love it. My favorite on there is when he lets the audience sing along the harmony parts in "Army". That's damn cool!

My favorite tracks are "One Down", "Army", "Not the Same" (really cool when you actually see him live when he starts conducting the backup vocals), "Narcolepsy", "The Last Polka", and the outro/ending to "Philosophy".

Wasn't he supposed to release a thrid internet-only EP and then a full-length CD before his next "official" album? Maybe the Bens EP counted as the last in that series.

The third EP was cancelled - I forget the reason, though.

I thought that the next full-length was the "official" release?

When I saw him live in late November/early December, he was talking about how all this stuff was kind of 'due' at the same time, so the album would probably come out first. My understanding was that the third EP will be coming out AFTER the full length album. Thought I could be wrong.

Nope. And I like 'em. More than some, not as much as others.

I like the early stuff as Ben Folds Five. Kind of wandered away over the years from his music.

I love Ben Folds Five. But I'm lukewarm on his solo work.

I'm a pretty big fan and I like pretty much everything he's done. I will say, though, that I tend to find myself drawn slightly more to the earlier stuff with Ben Folds Five because I find their arrangements and orchestrations better. His solo stuff is pretty much all done by Ben on all parts and then edited together, which gives it more of a...sterile(?) feeling than when there were musicians performing together. I love it all, though.
