Who is this "artist" (crappy 70's video version)

Take a look at this train wreck

I'm thinking this might be that guy who did the disco version of the Star Wars theme. Meco, or Mego, or something like that.

Hiro11 11-16-04 08:03 PM

I don't know, but that was fantastic!

Jazzbutcher 11-16-04 08:47 PM

that was some wacky shit!

fallow 11-16-04 09:07 PM

The song is called "Apache." I have no idea who the artist is.

The Infidel 11-16-04 11:13 PM

Well, the name of the group is on the bass drum head, but it's hard to make out. Judging by the lameness of the entire presentation, I would say it was "The Scheisse Band." That keyboard player looks like Doug Henning and Weird Al's retarded love-child.

lol Thanks for the clip. That made my night!

Don't know who it is. Even though there's a bongo player in the background, that definetly aint "The Incredible Bongo Band" (Who also have their version of the song released in the during that era)

That might explain why he's dressed like a Jedi knight.

Numanoid 11-18-04 03:52 PM

Except Meco really didn't look anything like that:

I think that guy played the cowbell for Blue Oyster Cult.

rotfl Could be; can't quite make out the name on the drum.

Buford T Pusser 11-18-04 08:47 PM

Two words and the first starts with S. Go from there!

Luther Heggs 11-19-04 10:37 PM

It's The Splash Band (not to be confused with the reggae band of the same name). They also did a disco cover of John Carpenter's theme from Assault on Precinct 13. I think they had releases on the disco division of the German ZYX label.

The Infidel 11-19-04 11:40 PM

I forgot to ask...which one of the Hanson brothers is playing the drums in that video?

(Five points for whoever gets the reference.)

Buford T Pusser 11-20-04 12:08 AM

The Slap Shot reference?

Luther Heggs! Don Knotts represent! Thanks for the answer.

The Infidel 11-20-04 12:42 AM

Take your five points, brother...may they serve you well.

Buford T Pusser 11-20-04 12:45 AM

Next I hope to get five points from Luther for recognizing his name. :p

jdslater 11-20-04 11:31 AM

The original version was by The Shadows.

Consider yourself five-pointed, Joe Don Baker. ;)

But I'm still waiting for an "Attaboy, Luther!" from somebody...
