Need Help: Angry Women's Music

Basically I am trying to put together a CD for a female friend of mine for a Christmas present. She is prone to periods of time where she listens to "angry" music by female singers that have a very empowering tone to them. I need some help finding songs that would fall into this category. The best example I can give off the top of my head would be something like Christina Aguilera's "Fighter". Any help would be appreciated.

"Zombie" by the Cranberries

There's a difference between plain angry and angry with "a very empowering tone"

Burnt Alive 01-17-05 01:01 PM

X-Ray Spex - "Oh Bondage, Up Yours".
If there's any song that fits the bill, this is the one.

Also, anything by X, Legal Weapon, 45 Grave, Penetration, Vice Squad, The Bags, Brigitte Handley, The Gits, Sin 34, UXA and The Avengers.

anything off Arch Enemy's latest 2 cd's
...but, of course, this IS death metal...still, it's a female vocalist, and man, is she pissed off.

Definitely! Also "Agony" by The Muffs. Kim is in full form on these songs.

Any discussion of this type begins and ends with Polly Jean Harvey.

I have nothing else to say that is either relevant or true.

Bikini Kill. They were the start of the sexist "riot grrrl" movement. They would pass out lyrics to their songs to all females (but no males) in the audience. Claim that all men "rape", etc...

Good band, but horrible attitude. I mean, you don't fight sexism with more sexism!

A better band would be the Lunachicks. Also the Bags (the LA band). Avengers. L7. The Muffs. The Gits. Joan Jett.
