Linkin Park vs. Jay-Z
One of rap's most respected showmen;Jay-Z, and one of rock's most disrepected (at least around here) bands; Linkin Park, are doing a 30 minute special on MTV (your favorite station) combining talents to do reinterpretations of each others songs. I am a huge fan of both so when I saw this commercial (JayZ rapping to one of LInkin Park's songs) I was elated. It'll be on MTV Wednesday (10/10) @ 10:30 pm.
Let the bashing begin!!! |
the album is... bizarre. when lp try to rap jigga's rhymes the wheels come off in a big way. j-zemo!
|
thats what I thought might of happened. With Jays lyrics being far superior I knew it would easy for him to do LP's lyrics, but the other way around...

Is there going to be a album?? I hope so..
|
The new Handsome Boy Modeling School blows this crap out of the water. Jay has a surprise cameo and Chester and Mike from LP are on there too. Mike's part is passable but Chester blows goats all over the place.

I just found out there is an album coming out called "Collision Course" on 11/30. JayZ has done these types of duo albums before with R. Kelly (Best of Both Worlds) and remixed his last album with tracks from the Beatles "White Album". I give Jay props for doing these types of projects as it shows his range of musical talent and taste. I remember on his Diary he was listening to a wide variety of music and in an interview last year he talked about how much he loved Outkasts and Coldplay's latest albums.I appreciate how he goes further than listening to his musical choices and tries to make music with them.

i don't believe the remix of the White Album was affliated with Jay-Z or Rockafella records

The Jay-Z/Beatles remix wasn't done by him. That was Danger Mouse.
I heard "Numb/Encore" on the radio last night and I thought the flow was off. Chester's vocals seemed out of place with Mike & Jay-Z's. It just didn't work. |
interesting, I enjoy both Jayz and LP
not a huge fan of either, but I'll take a listen |
I thought Jay-Z was retiring.
|
kind of a marketing thing

Yep, that slipped my mind about the JayZ/Beatles album, I just downloaded a song from Handsome Boy Modeling School (under suggestion from this forum) and I really enjoyed the song. Ill check out Numb/Encore now.

This sounds great. I will be watching.
|
watching it now... i don't really know much of LPs stuff... still pretty cool
|
I thought Jay Z retired. I thought we were not going to have to hear him anymore. and I shouldnt Linkin Park be making another album of songs that all sound the same?
Im so sick of MTV. |

album comes out on 11/30 comes with cd and dvd (concert/behind the scenes) having a tough time coming up with a full setlist/song list The Collision Course DVD contains the Roxy performance plus a behind-the-scenes look at the creative process of the collaboration, from their first introductions to recording to performance. The CD features studio recordings of the same song combinations that were preformed live that night. |
I really enjoyed this, I'll pick it up at the right price.
|
that show was off the hook, gonna definately pick it up on 11/30

I was doing this the whole time it was on last night :D :D  :D :D! That sounds amazing how they mix those sounds, it all seems to fit rather good IMHO. I love both of these acts (probably my favs in their genres). Wow, I cant wait for the album and hope they tour summer 05. Please, tour in the summer. (Snoop toured with Linkin Park this past summer)

Originally posted by j123vt_99 The one thing I didn't like was that it was almost a commerical for the cd/dvd coming out.. they played song then commerical, song then commerical... even the songs weren;t played fully through without going to a behind the scenes or rehearsal shot |
