Originally posted by kurupt Plus, with Jay-Z retired, Nas is the best mc in the game (sorry Eminem, you're not even top 5). Nas has been the best MC on the planet for a long, long time. No offense to Jay-Z, but Nas writes lyrics better than anyone. Eminem's effort on this album is half-ass for sure. |
Circuit City usually has new release CD's for $9.99 but of course, due to the push-up to Friday, it's not in Sunday's ad.
Any idea what CC or Wherehouse will sell it for? Those are the two stores that are easiest for me to get to to buy it. (and yes, I downloaded it the other day, but then I decided to restrain myself from listening to it, other than checking to see if the tracks were legit.) JP |
Got the CD yesterday, gave it about 2 spins all the way and i think its good, but not great. I only find about few tracks that i really like being Toy Soldiers, We As Americans, Love You More and Ass Like That, the rest are just ok.
Whats the deal with the special edition of this album, what will it contain? |
Guess the album is titled Encore because Eminem ran out of monikers.
|
Just came back from Best Buy to pick up Gone With the Wind and saw that they had the new Eminem, but it's still at full price ($14.99). The clerk that I talked to said the sale price wouldn't be in the computers until Tuesday and then it'd be $12.99. So I'll wait until then. Hope someplace else offers it for less than that so I can price match.

Originally posted by kurupt For the most part, Eminem's albums have become "color-by-numbers" albums. The "catchy" first single (which the Shady/Aftermatch camp always blames on Interscope and Jimmy Iovine...not saying it's not Iovine's fault, but they always make a point to say he asked for the track), there's always one or two songs about Kim. The song dedicated to his daughter. The song featuring D-12. The off the wall, look-at-me-I'm-crazy record. The serious, let-me-explain-myself track and so on and so on. You can take almost any cut from Encore, and find it's counterpart on the past Eminem albums. Unfortunately, these generic songtype tracklists are found on almost all major label hip-hop releases now days. You have to have the thug-luv track, the club track, the gangsta tracks, the timbaland track...That's why I'm anticipating Nas' Street Diciple album. From all reports, he's said to hell with this record lable executive approach and just made good music without feeling the need for a radio hit. Plus, with Jay-Z retired, Nas is the best mc in the game (sorry Eminem, you're not even top 5). |
Listening to Em's new album is like de ja vu, its so familar to Eminem Show this guys nickname should be rehash. EMINEM HAS RAN OUT OF MATERIAL!!!!!
He is not even one of the top 10 rappers out right now. |

My wife picked it up for me last night and the sold it for 9.99 she had to tell them that was the price on the website.

I subscribe to a streaming service and heard the whole CD. I picked up the following (it's $0.80 a track to burn):
Just Lose It Mosh Big Weenie Puke - Love the song, could do without the sounds. Mockingbird Evil Deeds |
Yeah, I got it at Circuit City for $11.99. Wherehouse was $14.99.

Got it for $9.98 at Target. Only got to hear the bonus CD but they were solid tracks. I'm looking forward to hearing the rest of the album.

Picked it up at Target yesterday for $9.98. I was surprised to see it as I hadn't heard about it being bumped to Friday.
I've only listened to about half of it, but I liked what I heard so far. I'll post some impressions once I give it a few spins. |
I liked the first 5 songs, the last couple songs, but most of the ones in the middle suck.
My favorites are Like Toy Soldiers and Mockingbird. |
It rang up for $9.99 at Best Buy today. The CSR was shocked cuz she said that price wasn't supposed to go into effect until Tuesday.
If they didn't have it for $9.99 on Sunday, I'm guessing that a lot of ppl would've complained that it was advertised in the advertisment for that price. I used the $2 off any regularly priced CD coupon $9.99 or higher that was in the Madden 2005 coupon booklet to get it for $7.99 + Tax :D |
Listened to the bonus disc once and had the main CD in the background yesterday, but I haven't listened enough to form a solid opinion of it. I like the album art and layout, though.
A whole track dissing Triumph the Insult Comic Dog? I love you, Em, but c'mon - he's a puppet. I thought that there'd be more than 3 tracks on the bonus disc because I was under the impression that it'd include all of the songs leaked earlier this year. There was "Monkey See Monkey Do" and some others, whose titles escape, that aren't on there. |

Granted, the whole track may not be about Triumph (I have yet to really listen to this album), but "Ass Like That" mentions him and Em uses a voice like Triumph's throughout the whole song. Like you said, it may just be a joke.

I thought it was dissing R Kelly.
|
I like " Like Toy Soldiers " "Mockingbird " and " Just Lose It " the best not sure why it just seems like this is a half albulm with the other half just filler. Half the songs I like the other half seem just thrown together at the last minute. Maybe that's just me though, Toy Soldiers is now my fav Eminem song as of now.

Rain Man is my favorite

Originally posted by DVD Josh Yes, ass like that is an entire song devoted to dissing Triumph. Like you said, it may just be a joke. You are right. He is diffenitely making fun of Triumph, but I aint sure who the butt of the joke is. A few more listens is in order. FYI, my first post, I seriously had no clue this track was there. The album is okay, but only a few tracks good enough for me to listen to several times to. |
Glad that people are digging this...any word on sales figures yet?

In "Ass Like That", he makes fun of:
R. Kelly Michael Jackson Jessica Simpson Hillary Duff Triumph Arnold Schwarzenegger Mary Kate & Ashly Olsen Peewee Herman Britney Spears Gwen Stefani Did I miss anyone else? |
