The Secret Machines - Now Here Is Nowhere
The Helio Sequence - Love and Distance Automato - Automato Centro-Matic - Love You Just the Same Jean Grae - The Bootleg of the Bootleg EP Chuck Prophet - Homemade Blood Tomorrow I'm buying Old 97's - Drag It Up QOTD: Your favorite summer songs? Of course, the Beach Boys are way up there, but some others? I love "Summertime Thing" by Chuck Prophet. "Ants on the Melon" by the Gourds is another great one. |
What do you think of Automato?
Randy Newman, Sail Away Angels of Light, How I Loved You Built to Spill, Perfect From Now On and There's Nothing Wrong with Love the Beatles, White Album side 2 of LP 1 and side 1 of LP 2 ("Martha My Dear" through "Long Long Long") Yo La Tengo, I Can Hear the Heart Beating as One Jolie Holland, Catalpa XTC, English Settlement At the moment, "Green Arrow" by Yo La Tengo. It's like the post-party summer anthem of my life. |
Mull Historical Society-This is Hope
Clinic-Winchester Cathedral Interpol-Antics The Pernice Brothers-Yours Mine & Ours The Prodigy-Always Outnumbered.... QOTD: Yep, Beach Boys-Pet Sounds...is there really anyone out there more summer than the Beach Boys? |
Jean Grae is a must-have. Possibly the best female emcee in the game today. Here's hoping she doesn't walk away from it (rumor has it she's pretty disenchanted with the entire thing).

Jean Grae is one of the best emcees in hip hop, period. The Bootleg... is an amazing EP.
fallow...I like the Automoto CD but it doesn't blow me away (at least not yet). Not as successful at live band hip hop as the Roots in my opinion. |

When does Crimes come out?
And I've been listening to the newest Comets on Fire album for the last 4 days. |
Yeah, it's the wrong week, but I don't care...
They Might Be Giants - The Spine U2 - The Joshua Tree Whiskeytown - Faithless Street Mozart's Violin Concertos Nos. 1, 2, & 3 The Thrills - So Much For The City AOTD (summer songs): gosh, too many to even think about. Agreed that the Beach Boys have ex officio status in this category. I always thought that Fountains of Wayne's first two albums had very summer-y vibes to them. "The Senator's Daughter," off Utopia Parkway, has a great end-of-summer vibe to it. Gdrlv, how's the Old 97's? (Apologies if you answered this in another thread...) |
