Did you like Alanis Morissette's last 2 Albums?

I think Under Rug Swept & So Called Chaos are her best work since she wrote all of the songs.

Is her new album doing well and does she plan to release any more singles?

I loved the last two albums and think Alanis is getting better with time. "So-Called Chaos" debuted at #5 on Billboard. It remained in the Top 10 for two or three weeks. It's currently at #52 after 6 weeks. Not exactly flying off the shelves like her first two albums. Hopefully a second a stronger single will increase sales. "Everything" is a great song, but wouldn't have been my choice for the first single. For the record (no pun), "Jagged Little Pill" sold 16 million units, "Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie" sold 3 million, "Under Swept Rug" sold a million. So like most artists, sales have dropped with each release.

album 3 was very good with "Flinch" and "That Particular Time"

album 4 (new one) is good but not great (just seems off)

album 2 had too many throwaway songs, but would've been good if it had been condensed to her 12 or so tracks

I love it now that she is no longer insanely popular, she can produce the kind of work she wants to and no one cares

Totally agree! It is a great album from start to finish! Only song I routinely skip is This Grudge.

Agree with both you and dolphinboy. It's a fantastic album. And I've played it non-stop since the release. "The Grudge" might not be the catchiest song on the album, but just listen to the lyrics. Very biting. And the strongest written song on the album for sure.

Oh I like the song... I just like the one before it and the two after it much better. :-)

The Sad fact is as Alanis' sales go down her albums get better and better. She is one of the best song writers in the business today.

She seems to have lost what little "edge" she had.

She's sounding less like Ani DiFranco and more like Sheryl Crow.

The new album is okay but in this one she tends to concentrate too much on the hooks. She is very good at writing a good hook even since the first album...but here there is too much emphasis on them...often repeating then 2 or 3 times in succession. It seems she wanted to make tunes to be too catchy...which isn't a problem really as the album is decent. I just prefer her song writing and structure on SFIJ much more.
