Do I have to pull out my Jock Jams cd? Do you really want me to go there?

I don't know the name of the song, but it's the one that goes:

Said-A-BOOM-BOOM-BOOM A-Let me hear ya say Hey-O! Hey-O!

SubZeri 07-07-04 06:12 PM

Unfortunately, alot of the above is fairly weak top 40 pop music. As far as 90's DANCE, here are a few top choons:

Slo Moshun - Bells Of NY (Xen Mantra's Beefy Bells Remix)
X-Press 2 - Rock 2 House (Plastikman's Acid House Mix)
Hardfloor - Hardtrance Acperiance
M to the 3rd Power - Brainwave
LFO - Tied Up (Electro)
Channel 69 - Promise Is Breaking (Red Eye's Club One Revision)
Peter Tall - A1 Love
St. Etienne - Like a Motorway (Chekov Warp Vox/Dub & Dave Holmes Mixes)
Underground Sound Of Lisbon - So Get Up! (Danny Tenaglia Remixes)
Funky Green Dogs (Murk) - High Up! (Vocal and Dubs)
Paradigm Shift - Grip (The whole EP kicks ass)
Interface - Believe (Red Eye's Tweaky Queen Mix)
One Dove - White Love (Scott Hardkiss' Psychic Masturbation Mix)
Direckt - 2 Fatt Guitars
DJ EFX - Is It Like My Dildo?
House Pimps - Zulu Nation
LSDJ-E - Excuse Me
Underworld - Dark & Long (Dark Train)

Automatic Lover - Real McCoy

DonnachaOne 07-08-04 05:42 PM

Here's some great pop/dance songs from then that aren't terribly cheesy or dated...

The Shamen - Ebeneezer Goode Took me AGES to figure out what the song meant...

Jam & Spoon featuring Plavka - Right In The Night Dance and MANDOLIN!

Basement Jaxx - Red Alert Damn good! From 1999... not too late.

Scooter - Fire Ah, the most-stolen MC rant in history.

The Grid - Swamp Thing What, you don't like dance with mandolin? Try with BANJO!

Strike - U Sure Do Simple but I like it

Bobby Brown - Two Can Play That Game Great mix of a good r&b song

Take That - Relight My Fire Might be their best song, as far as danceability goes.

Ultra Nate - New Kind Of Medicine So disco, yet not!

Mousse T featuring Hot & Juicy - Horny Listen to it once, and you won't stop singing it. Which could be awkward. Especially in church.

Atlantic Ocean - Waterfall Sounds like a "Sonic The Hedgehog" level, but what's wrong with that? Nice, instrumental and chipper!

Stereo MCs - Creation Still very good after all these years.

Freestylers featuring Definition Of Sound - Here We Go Still very Stereo MCsish after all these years.

Reel 2 Real - Move It I like to move it move it! I like to move it move it! I like to move it move it! Y'all like ta... MOVE IT!

Everything But The Girl - Missing (Todd Terry Remix) One of their best songs made so much better.

The Prodigy - No Good Still their best get-up-and-dance song

Baby D - Let Me Be Your Fantasy Great breaks. Great voice. Great song.

Billie Ray Martin - Your Loving Arms Closest thing to a love song just MADE for dance.

Pet Shop Boys - Go West A very gay tune, but when they're this fun it doesn't matter

Wild Child - Renegade Master 98 WC may be gone but this one won't be forgotten.

Faithless - Insomnia Anticipation, anticipation, anticipation, and then... THUNTHUNTHUTHUNTHUTHUNTHUNTHUTHUNTHUTHUTHUNTHUN!!!!

The Goodmen - Give It Up Drums please!

The Chemical Brothers - Setting Sun Great beats, swirling sitar, Noel Gallagher... if there's anything they left out, add it in and we'll call it the "kitchen sink remix"

Bjork - Big Time Sensuality Get up and dance all softly-like!

Kylie Minogue - Better The Devil You Know A little bit more flamboyent and disco-ey than her later stuff, and she never looked better than she did then!

Doop - Doop Utterly ridiculous, but quite charming

The Outhere Brothers - Don't Stop (Wiggle Wiggle) (RADIO EDIT In its original form, it's just sad and filthy for filth's sake. The radio edit amps up the dance music and keeps the important lyrics.

Brainbug - Nightmare Strings! Sounding EEEEVIL

Stardust - Music Sounds Better With You Okay, at three minutes it's STILL too long, but such a fab track...

New Order - Confusion (Pump Panel Remix) It's... um... BOUNCY!

St Etienne - Sylvie Screw ABBA!

Fatboy Slim - The Rockafeller Skank Still great from '98

... and, my fave 90's big-beater...

N-Trance - Set U Free

I'll think of more when I have the time.

RoQuEr 07-09-04 01:24 PM

DonnachaOne said most of the ones I was going to mention. Funny how about 2/3 of his are from 1994.

Don't forget:

Rednex - Cotton Eyed Joe

The Steps - Tragedy

Chemical Brothers - Block Rockin Beats

.

The song I remember from the Shamen was 'Move Every Mountain'

Insomnia may be their hit, but 'Take the Long Way Home' released in 1998 is a fierce song - a blinding song when performed live. Have you heard any word if their latest album is slated for a US release?

'Give It Up' - thanks for reminding of this song and time when this song tore up the club floor, the drums on this song make you want to pogo yourself to the moon.

Have to add:

The Orb - Fluffy White Clouds

Cajmere's 'It's Time for the (Percolator)'

Yeah, I moved to America in 1995. It kinda dried up for a while. No dance music in my area, but who needs dance when you have FIVE CLASSIC ROCK STATIONS...

achau9598, wasn't the "Kung Fu Fighting" cover actually by Bus Stop? Such a terrible song... I love it... ;)

warcp, I was something like ten when "Ebeneezer Goode" came out. Two years later I moved to America and never heard the song again for years. When I did, I got the epiphany.

BDB 07-13-04 04:17 PM

weird I just pulled out my jam and spoon cd at the weekend for the right in the night song

DonnachaOne 07-14-04 01:16 AM

Yeah, I love that Jam & Spoon song. Trouble is it reminds me of heineken ads. I have the same problem with "Uncle Pat" by Ash. Damn jingles!

My mistake, I must be thinking of a remix. Either way, a GREAT ravey type song.
