If you leave the store without Tool's Undertow, I'm going to personally hunt you down and sterilize you. Buy this now.

My second choice is Lynyrd Skynyrd.

You absolutely have to pick up Disintegration. IMO, it is one of the best albums of all time. For me, it's right up there with Revolver, Pet Sounds, The Low End Theory, Transformer, etc.

Seriously. If you want to pick up some BEP, get their first two discs. They are VASTLY superior to their latest one. They are the textbook example of "selling out." (the girl's easy on the eyes, though)

The song "Let's Get It Started" is a "cleaned-up" version of the song "Let's Get Retarded." The original is a much better song and is fantastic when live in person. Hell, any song the BEP does live is fantastic.

If I was you, I'd pick up Elephunk and pick up, say Hot Fuss by The Killers.

Franz Ferdinand is a good dance-rock band with some attitude. I like their album a lot.

Liz Phair's album is very mainstream (except for the cussing) but I really like it as well. It just doesn't have her stripped down indie feeling to it.

Jay-Z is a classic, but the radio probably plays you that plenty, plus i bet it's in used stores everywhere by now.

I am a huge TOOL fan but i think with the except of "Sober" and "Swamp Song" that the Undertow album is very dry-sounding, not a lot of enjoyment there.

Franz should still be cheap as in $9.99 and under and major record chains.

I'm probably out of step here with everyone else, but imho, Disintegration is a boring album by The Cure. Some may say it is melancholic and moody ... but for me it was a yawn-fest. There are better Cure albums.

Out of that list, Franz Ferdinand is the one must-have album. And if you feel the need for some Cure, then rather try Wish, or Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me. Another album by The Cure that I am fond of is the remixed album, Mixed Up. In fact, the better songs on Disintegration appears on Mixed Up and with a bit more sparkle. Definitely worth a listen.

The Seether album is very good, but I threw down a vote in the other category to plug the new Rachel Yamagata album Happenstance. I picked it up last week and it is excellent! Kind of Fionna Appleesque.

actually the only 2 songs radio currently plays off the new album is "dirt off your sholders" (didnt' the beastie boys use that same sample/riff in a song)?, and 99 problems, which ironically is only played on whfs, an alternative rock station

voting ends sometime tomorrow. looks like it'll be disintegration and franz ferdinand. oh and if other comes in third (supposing that one of hte albums isn't there), i guess, tool is the big "other" choice.

I picked Elvis / Skynyrd because I'm old.
