The Polyphonic Spree - Together We're Heavy
Yesterday, I was lucky enough to pick up an advance copy of this disc. I love it. It's much better than The Beginning Stages Of... Actual songs instead of huge chorus after huge chorus. The choir is much less gimmicky this time out. They've certainly proven to be much more than the novelty band they were seemingly destined to become. This is a great psychedelic pop album.
I'm confused though. The promo copy says "Copyright 2003" and there doesn't seem to be a release date for this disc. I was floored when I stumbled upon this one. Does anyone know when it'll get an official release?

I'm just getting through my third listen to the album in full. You should be excited for it. It far surpasses anything I thought DeLaughter would be capable of with this group. It really is a fantastic album.

so i bought their first album and just hated it. some of hte most annoying crap i have ever heard. i wanted to fling the cd out of my car, but kept it long enough to trade it in. but since you seem to say that this album has nothing that i hated about the first album ill give it a shot.

whynotsmile...It still sounds (mostly) like the same band that recorded The Beginning Stages of... If you hated that disc, I would still listen to a few tracks on Together We're Heavy before buying it (don't want to see you waste your money). However, the new disc is ridiculously more accomplished than the first. The choir actually is used to much greater effect. They add to the songs rather than overpower the songs. The disc still has the hyper-positive tone of the first disc though. It's definitely still the Polyphonic Spree.

i'd love to hear their new stuff. i wasn't sure about them, but once i saw the live act, i was hooked. truely the most bizarre/interesting act in most recent memory.

Wow, I've never been much of a Spree fan but I'm REALLY enjoying this album. I'm still on my first listen, and can't wait for another spin.
Think I'll do some work at the computer tonight and keep it on repeat.

thanks for the direction, Bust.
i'm really really enjoying this. truly the most "unique" act i've heard in a long time.
this album seems to take care of what i felt was wrong with the first one. i liked everything (save for the 38 minute noise) on the first album, but i couldn't escape it's "demo" feel. this one is amazing. can't wait for the release.

I'm highly anticipating Tuesday so I can finally get my hands on this album.
I was a huge fan of the first album and this is my 3rd most anticipated CD release this year.
