I think it probably would have pushed it over the edge toward cheezy 80s metal and it likely would have sucked.
yes, please push it over that edge! I can't stand to hear any more boring 90's grunge sounding band where the guy mumbles at his shoe about how much he hates his dad in that annoying "eerrrr eerrrr" style of vocals.

Velvet Revolver vs. Audioslave

Discuss.
I haven't heard Velvet Revolver yet... but they can't be THAT boring. I'm sure Velvet Revolver wins out... but that's not saying much, watching grass grow is more exciting than listening to Audioslave.

I'm with you half way on this one absolutely love hair metal but i also enjoy grunge mainly alice in chains and soundgarden, at least there hair was long and they rocked hard to me thats rock n roll...

And on the velvet revolver album it kinda reminds me of the non radio hits off of g & r's appetite for destruction album you know kinda punk but heavy, not grunge at all so i think you might like it just listen to it over and over a couple times and it should grow on you, i didn't care for it the first listen but i've played it maybe 5 times or so now and i really like it now, i really like songs 7 (headspace) and 8 (superhuman) alot along with the radio hit (slither)...

Opened at #1 on Billboard with sales of 256,000

Congrats.

Still miss STP though.

Audioslave by a wide margin. I loved soundgarden and rage, where as I loved STP but didn't care for GnR.

Both are good, but the Audioslave album is one of my all time faves.

Thanks for the great instructions. I didn't think I'd ever be able to get these songs on my ipod.

I didn't like the album at all when I first listened to it, but it does grow on you. Still, it's not as good as STP,GNR in their heyday, Audioslave, or even Talk Show, but it still beats 12 Bar Blues.

I like it. Was a huge Guns N' Roses fan (still am, though wonder if Axl's ever going to release that album of his), and love to hear the familiar sounds of Slash, his Les Paul, and those Marshall amps.

There's a TON of them out there. You just have to look.

Check out the Supersuckers.

Unless something's changed, they don't call themselves the Supersuckers for nothing. Saw them with the Toadies and White Zombie once.

This ripped for me without problems... I had Musicmatch already opened before I inserted the CD, so once I put it in, MM took it from there without launching the Cd's own program

Funny pics of VR dressing up as GnR (Slash as Buckethead and Scott as Axl ) at a halloween show....and I am guessing Duff is Courtney Love (?)

Pictures aren't showing up. But if they're dressing up as the "new" GnR, Duff would be Tommy Stinson (from the Replacements).

Here is a direct link ... Photos

I know who Stinson is but would lend to a rather boring costume...so I think Duff went for the Love look.

ah, I see them now. Yeah he did go as Courtney. Funny. (I dressed up as Axl on numerous Halloweens starting way back in '87. Could never do that now though... he's had way too much plastic surgery.)

Plus Duff already kind of looks like Tommy Stinson anyways.

Nevermind, I found instruction on how to do it, here they are for anyone else.

Start with a Windows 2000/XP system with empty CD drives. Be sure to reboot the computer first to ensure MediaMax is not running.

1. Click the Start button and select Control Panel from the Start Menu (or just right click My Computer, hit properties and then go to step 3).

2. Double-click on the System control panel icon.

3. Select the Hardware tab and click the Device Manager button.

4. Configure Device Manager by clicking "Show hidden devices" and "Devices by connection," both from the View menu.

5. Insert the CD into the computer and allow the SunnComm software to start. Observe that the SbcpHid device driver is added to the Device Manager list when MediaMax runs for the first time.

Next, follow these additional steps to disable MediaMax:

1. Select the SbcpHid driver from the Device Manager list and click "Properties" from the Action Menu.

2. Click the Driver tab and click the Stop button to disable the driver.
I followed this to the tee and it didn't work (the Sbcphid driver is disabled and I still get the garbage)..............any other suggestions? I'm running windows 2k pro.

I wish I was at that show. Those pics are awesome!

Anyone heard their cover of Nirvana's Negative Creep?

Seems like an odd choice for a cover considering that Cobain hated GnR with a passion.

BTW, picked up Contraband today at BB. My first copy was stolen. Best Buy is currently bundling the disc with a three song exclusive cd that includes VR's covers of:

Surrender
No More No More
Negative Creep

Still only $9.99!!!

Picked it up. Not bad. Better album than I thought, but there's tons more/better rock albums out there this year.

The cover of "Surrender" was actually one of the better versions I've heard of that song that's been covered way too much.

Scott has a really good voice (something I never really noticed before).
