DISCO, Yay or Nay ?

What do you guys think of DIsco ?

I absolutely love Disco, still the best music to dance too. Sure some of the songs haven't aged well and are tacky now but look how many have been re recorded and been hits.

I think this current generation needs to be exposed to the original disco classics

NaturalMystic79 05-17-04 12:07 AM

YES!!! Disco rules! The music that is out now is garbage. BRING BACK THE 70's!!!! :hump:

Original Desmond 05-17-04 12:35 AM

I'd rather peel my penis with a potato knife.

Honestly, I looove disco. You guys should check out Soul Jazz's British Hustle compilation. It collects British funk & disco from the '70s and early '80s. Very good, despite some Old Navy Cargo Pants imagery I get from the music.

conscience 05-17-04 11:05 AM

I love disco too, but I don't tell alotta people. ;)

DRG 05-17-04 03:46 PM

I'm sick to death of the *really* played out stuff... especially 'Celebration', 'YMCA', and 'I Will Survive'. I do really like some of the stuff that's played a bit less often... 'Don't Leave Me This Way, 'Upside Down', 'Knock On Wood', 'Heaven Knows', 'Got to be Real', 'Haven't Stop Dancin' Yet' and 'Macho Man'.

Disco and funk are good people. I've got 7 discs that cover the genre well: Pure Funk Vol. 1 - 2, Pure Disco Vol. 1 - 3 and Millennium Funk Party 1 and 2. Some overlap, but good overall programs.

Rivero 05-17-04 05:27 PM

Disco was one of the worst things to happen in music ever.

MJKTool 05-17-04 05:43 PM

NAY

Ever wish you could go back in time just to prevent something from happening?...

Original Desmond 05-18-04 12:18 AM

funny how people either love disco or hate it

No inbetween

that's good

fallow 05-18-04 12:29 AM

Seriously, why was Disco one of the worst things to happen to music, ever?

Matthew Chmiel 05-18-04 12:51 AM

According to most people, the fact that I like disco and techno kind of takes points off my heterosexuality. :(

DISCO FOREVER! WOO!

custom001 05-18-04 03:05 AM

I don't mind listening to Disco once in a while in a club. Wouldn't listen to it at home, though.

antennaball 05-18-04 08:20 AM

Absolutely nay.

70's Funk, on the other hand...hell yes.

Josh H 05-18-04 11:53 AM

Nay. After country, disco gets my vote for wost music genre ever.

Brain Stew 05-18-04 03:49 PM

I think Jello Biafra said it best in the song, "70s Rock Must Die" by his group Lard.

"My Saturday Night Fever fantasy:
Lock the Bee-gees in a pinto and ram it from the rear!
Burn Baby!"

Original Desmond 05-18-04 03:56 PM

in my experience it is the people with no rhythm who hate disco :)

anyone who likes to dance and can groove a bit appreciates the disco beats

milo bloom 05-18-04 04:12 PM

I don't care for it as a whole, but there are several individual songs that I like.

And there's a cover of I Will Survive by either Violent Femmes or Cake that I think is great.

I think it's just the opposite, actually. Disco was invented so people with no sense of rhythm can dance just like the rest of us. Personally I don't need a thumping bass drum every quarter note to tell me where the downbeat is...

don't know about the Femmes, but Cake's cover is brilliant.
