Hari Seldon...from these top 5 lists I think you have good taste in music. These are pretty hard for me because they have been some of my favorite bands.
Evenflow
Go
In Hiding
Corduroy
Rearview Mirror / Better Man

Sebastian...thanks for the compliment. I'm not as much a music geek as some around here, but I like to think I can make a decent mix cd.
One of my interests is finding new music...which I usually download a few tracks and if I like it buy the album. With a lot of lesser known bands it is hard to know where to begin. As an experiment I'm trying out a few of these top five threads on some of the more well known bands out there to see if there is a correlation between most popular and best songs to introduce you to the band. If this works, I may try to find someone to put together a program to handle tallying votes so I don't have to do it buy hand, and maybe making a website for it. No commercial aspirations...just a place where people can go, type in a name of a band they think might be interesting, and see what's voted as the top songs. This does lead to piracy but also higher cd sales, especially by non-RIAA labels.
Also...right now all the above is just a pipe dream "what if." I'm just seeing if the theory I had seems plausible. Mods if I do decide to do that someday I won't use any info gathered from these DVDTalk posts or advertise links. Email me if it's a problem and I'll gladly stop.

well, after seeing how out of control my phish list got on a similar question, i'll tell you right now that you're not getting 5 pj songs from me...
i will, however, try to give 1 per album:
Ten: Deep
Vs.: Leash
Vitalogy: Whipping/Immortality
No Code: Red Mosquito/Lukin
Yield: Faithfull/No Way/In Hiding
Binaural: Light Years/Insignificance/Rival
Riot Act: You Are/Save You/Cropduster/Bushleaguer
Other mentions: I Got Id, Footsteps, Leatherman

First, my best shot at a top 5 PJ (#1 and 2 have been that way on my list for years, but after that, there's about 50 almost impossible to choose from):
1) I Got Id
2) Present Tense
3) In My Tree
... ah hell, it's just too hard after that. Here's what I'd be choosing from, from each album:
Ten: Porch, Why Go, Garden, Deep
Vs.: Rats, Rearview Mirror, Leash, Animal, Indifference
Vitalogy: Tremor Christ, Last Exit, Not For You, Immortality
No Code: (Present Tense and In My Tree are my #2 and 3), then Red Mosquito, Off He Goes (the greatest album of all time................................................imho)
Yield: Faithfull, In Hiding, Push Me Pull Me, Brain of J
Binaural: Grievance, Slight of Hand (weakest album of theirs, by far)
Riot Act: Save You, You Are, Love Boat Captain, All or None
and plenty more in concert, but just from originals of theirs, also Alone, Footsteps, and Yellow Ledbetter, and plenty of others I'm not thinking of right now.

Black
Crazy Mary
Smile
RVM
Corduroy
But that's just right now. It can vary, but Black is always on top.

Come on man, this question is like asking your mother which son does she love more!!!
Too many to list, but I got shite is probably the one that I keep coming back to it seems. The 8/10 (west palm beach) bootleg has a very good version of I got shite. I was actually at that show, great show. PJ is my favorite band so I can't really pick a list of top 5 but everyone here has had great choices.
Off topic- I am really getting into All or None on Riot Act. I love that song.
