I like III also. The only Zeppelin album I didn't like was Coda.

CAT STEVENS: Mona Bone Jakon, Tea For The Tillerman, Teaser & the Firecat (alternate: Tillerman, Teaser, Catch Bull At Four).
JONI MITCHELL: Blue, For The Roses, Court & Spark.
JACKSON BROWNE: For Everyman, Late For The Sky, The Pretender.
EAGLES: Eagles, Desperado, On The Border.
ELTON JOHN: Elton John, Tumbleweed Connection, Madman Across The Water.
Other notable artists with 3-album streaks: Linda Ronstadt, Emmylou Harris, Jimi Hendrix, Jethro Tull, Santana, Chicago.
Although this could easily become a popularity contest, I limited myself to more popular artists who issued LP's on a regular basis rather than simply listing favorites (for instance, Richard Thompson didn't make the list because he often had a "dud" album in the midst of brilliance). Also didn't list indie/folkie favorites (Guy Davis, Richard Shindell, Gillian Welch & David Rawlings, etc.) although they consistently release solid collections of outstanding songs--mainly because they can take years between releases and aren't under the incredible pressure to match previous successes as are the more "mainstream" artists. One could argue that the bigger names have more resources available, but I think most would agree that money & fame do not necessarily translate into greater artistic freedom (witness what happened to some of the artists listed above whose creativity diminished along with rising popularity). I also felt that the albums above have stood the test of time and are considered to be classic or peak career moments that are still fondly enjoyed many years after their original release...and have influenced other artists during their formative years.

Great thread... and my how a variety of generations shows on it! Lots and lots of 3 in a rows I would have mentioned are already here. As some are adding Meddle and The Final Cut to the Pink Floyd list, no way I could....but from DSOTM to Animals is a heck of a run in my opinion.
Bad Company- Bad Company, Straight Shooter, Run With The Pack
Heart- Dreamboat Annie, Little Queen, Dog And Butterfly
(Magazine 'techically' is not their third album, rather their 4th; it was released after they left the label without their involvement and input; in a settlement they went in and revamped it to suit all parties)
Kate Bush- Hounds Of Love, The Sensual World, The Red Shoes
Paul McCartney- McCartney, Ram, Red Rose Speedway
