Which "classic" albums am I missing?
I am talking about albums that would be considered 5/5, groundbreaking, or a sign of their times. Here is my CD collection, and I would like to hear some suggestions to help "fill out" my collection.
Thanks :)! |
Jay Z - Reasonable Doubt
SnoopDogg - Doggy Style BIG - Life After Death But yah doesn't look like you listen to rap. |
Re: Which "classic" albums am I missing?
Originally posted by Brain Stew a sign of their times. My Bloody Valentine, Loveless (though I personally disagree, this changed a lot of people in 1990) and others that you have some titles by: Talking Heads, Remain in Light & More Songs About Building and Food The Cure, Disintegration Gang of Four, Entertainment! Van Morrison, Astral Weeks REM, Murmur U2, Boy & The Joshua Tree |
Glad to see that some of these are on your wish list. IMO, you should not proceed with life without:
DJ Shadow: Endtroducing… Tribe Called Quest- Low End Theory Stooges: Raw Power (Expanded) Talking Heads: Remain In Light and Fear of Music and More Songs about Buildings and Food Velvet Undergound: Velvet Underground and White Light/White Heat New York Dolls: New York Dolls and Too Much Too Soon Cheap Trick: first four albums and Live at Budokan Neil Young: Rust Never Sleeps, Tonights the Night, Zuma Love: Forever Changes Jesus and Mary Chain: Darklands and Psychocandy My Bloody Valentine: Loveless The English Beat: Can’t Stop… Sonic Youth: Daydream Nation, Sister and Evol Husker Du: Flip Your Wig, New Day Rising and Warehouse Melvins: Ozma Big Black: Songs about ****ing and Atomizer Joy Division: Unknown Pleasures and Closer Magnetic Fields: 69 Love Songs Dinosaur Jr: You’re Living All Over Me and Green Mind Manic Street Preachers: Holy Bible Orbital: Orbital 2 …that’s a good start. |

Some other "classics" that I think you should hear at some point:
Vashti Bunyan, Just Another Diamond Day Sam Cooke, Live at the Harlem Square Club, 1963 The Human League, Dare John Fahey, The Transfiguration of Blind Joe Death David Bowie, Hunky Dory Pere Ubu, Dub Housing The Zombies, Oddesey & Oracle James Brown, Live at the Apollo Serge Gainsbourg, Comic Strip -- this is actually a compilation but a nearly perfect one And if you ever try hip-hop: A Tribe Called Quest, Midnight Marauders Nas, Illmatic Notorious B.I.G., Ready to Die De La Soul, 3 Feet High and Rising Jay Z, The Blueprint Public Enemy, Fear of a Black Planet & It Takes a Nation of Millions... All of these are pretty generic recommendations. I mainly picked from the respective canons. |
