"We Are the World" 2004 song??

I caught the tale end of this annoucement on the radio yesterday that Quincy Jones is doing a new song in vein of "We Are the World" with all these singers - what's the scoop here? Who is participating?

Well, I know Q is organizing some type of "Live Aid" concert in Greece [I think it was Greece]...

The only artist I remember signing up was Norah.

I predict this will be a horrible failure.

Norah Jones, Quincy Jones' to help kids in conflict!

Washington, Mar 23 (ANI): Pop star Quincy Jones, who rendered the charity anthem 'We Are The World' is all set to perform in a giant concert, set to be broadcast internationally in May.

The proceeds from the show will go to children suffering in areas of conflict.

Around 2,000 children, aged between five and eight, will assemble hand-in-hand at the event, which will take place at Rome's Circus Maximus grounds and encourage sport and music interaction between warring nations.

Norah Jones, Jay-z, Sting and Herbie Hancock are among a host of stars who are expected to join her. Jones' 'We are the future' is expected to draw more than one million fans to Rome, Italy, and millions more to TV sets around the world when it airs on 16 May.

Jones is also in talks with Jakob Dylan, Ben Taylor and Stevie Wonder to appear in the show, which will include Oprah Winfrey, Muhammad Ali and Chris Tucker.

Organisers are negotiating with an American TV network and Arabic broadcaster AL-JAZEERA to broadcast the marathon show

Jones, who hopes the event will inspire his fellow Americans to get more involved with the rest of the world.

"Isolationism is one of our biggest problems. Only 11 per cent of Americans have passports. I'm glad people are starting to pay attention to issues like the AIDS pandemic and the nature of tribalism. It's time to get off our butts and jam," rate the music quotes him as saying.
