Songs with talking in the middle...
A friend's birthday is coming up. For some reason, she finds songs with talking in them really funny (think "Leader of the Pack" by the Shangri-Las(?) that starts with dialogue at the beginning), so I want to burn her a CD of songs with talking. Any suggestions?
All I got so far is: -I Love How You Love Me, The Paris Sisters (old Phil Spector-produced song, with a spoken verse in the middle; this cracks her up) -I Will Always Love You, Dolly Parton (she starts talking in the middle, the "I hope life treats you kind...") -Proud Mary, Ike and Tina Turner ("We're gonna take the beginning of this song, and do it easy....") -Rescue Me, Madonna (all verses spoken, not sure this should be here, it's too much spoken stuff) -Somewhere Down the Crazy River, Robbie Robertson (see above, perhaps too much talking) -Thorn in my Side, Eurythmics (weak, only a few lines spoken at beginning, "You gave me such a hard time....") -A Letter from Tina, Ike and Tina Turner (just found this, pretty funny spoken stuff, probably unintentionally funny) -Are You Lonesome Tonight?, Elvis Presley ("I wonder if you're lonesome tonight... A wise man once said..." This is exactly the type of thing I'm looking for.) -P. Funk (Wants to Get Funked Up), Parliament (maybe too much talking, all verses spoken, but the song is so awesome!!) -Better Be Good to Me, Tina Turner ("And I really don't see, why it's so hard to be, good to me..." Not nearly enough talking....) Get the idea? I don't mean rapping, just talking. The cheesier the better!! All suggestions welcome! I hope some of you have suggestions, at any rate, any at all..... Please. Help me; you're my only hope. |

Phish "Run Like an Antelope" ("Rye Rye Rocco/Marco Esquandolas/Beg you to have any spike, man?")
The Dead Milkmen "Bitchin' Camaro" (The spoken part is actually the first 3/4 of the song) The Dead Milkmen "Peter Bazooka" (Just a spoken word story set to music) Sure I know tons more but those three stick out in my mind right now. |
doesn't britney spears' "oops i did it again" have talking in the middle? pretty cheesy, if i remember.

There's the horrendous spoken word in Alicia Keys' "You Don't Know My Name"... absolutely deplorable... it's hilarious...

Originally posted by Laertes -P. Funk (Wants to Get Funked Up), Parliament (maybe too much talking, all verses spoken, but the song is so awesome!!) Let's see, what else: "I'm The Man" Anthrax "Me and You" Brenton Wood "Bo Didley" The Animals "One more try" Timmy T (I think that was his name) "Candy" Iggy Pop "She's got papers on me" Richard Fields (This one's kinda funny) "Dude, Don't call me dude" Scatterbrain "If You Wanna Be Happy" Jimmy Soul Oh and you might want to check out any song by King Missle, but maybe that's too much talking. |
Two early Madonna songs:
"Physical Attraction" "Stay" |
"Are 'Friends' Electric?" - Gary Numan
"We Came TO Dance" (album version) - Ultravox "Human" - Human League |
More Tool songs than I care to mention.
:) |
I'm surprised there's been no mention of "Hey Ya."
Since talking in the beginning apparently qualifies: "Walk On" by U2 and "What's Going On" by Marvin Gaye |
