I got to admit that I don't know Radiohead at ALL. But if someone on a message board (here or elsewhere) said that they were today's Pink Floyd. That means they must be the 2nd most boring band in the world.

I tend to think of this quote as part of their "act" - this is the same band that covers "Street Spirit". I've seen Radiohead over 10 times and "boring" is never an adjective that comes to mind, but then again, to each their own.

I would like Radiohead a lot better if the music was instrumental. I just don't like Thom Yorke's (sp?) vocals. The music has an ethereal quality to it. It's nice background music for driving or some other low key activity, but it's not something I'd 'actively' listen to, in other words put it in with the sheer purpose of listening to and enjoying the music. I still think "Creep" is their best song, although I admittedly haven't listened to every song on every album.

The Darkness is much more fun to listen to, at least a few of the songs are. They're probably not as 'talented' in the artistic sense, but hey, so what? For me, music is ear candy.

The Darkness are hands down, no question, the best band in 10 years.

I find The Darkness, much like Radiohead, only okay. The Darkness still can't hold a candle to the great 80s band they're aping: The big, loud, dumb rawk. But the thing is, that music was FUN. The music industry needs more videos with guys fighting giant crabs with their guitars aboard spaceships.

It's kind of sad that the music industry has collapsed into either prefab pop bullshit like Britney Spears and Jessica Simpson, or pretentious twaddle like Radiohead and Sigur Ros.

Don't take this as a slam at Radiohead and Sigur Ros, I like them, but I'm not obsessed with them, and they're not even close to being in my top 100 artists. But it's like music for Microserfs.

Radiohead is a great band but certainly are boring, Pavement was a great band and was definitely boring, Appleseed Cast is a cool band but very boring, Tool and A Perfect Circle are just boring.

Evidently, I've been totally confused as to the definition of the word "boring". I always thought it meant non-interesting. Evidently, it means talented and thought-provoking.

I'm just sort of surprised at the number of people here who think Radiohead is boring. Have you guys seen them live recently? Have you listened to anything since Kid A more than once? I'm not one to tell people what to think... but I'm having trouble comprehending the word "boring" being attached to Radiohead.
