Whose autograph doesn't belong?

I saw this autographed guitar for sale with a title of "Guitar Legends" and it includes the following signatures:

S.R. Vaughan, J. Perry, D. Betts, E. Clapton, K. Richards, R. Cray, Slash, L. Kravitz, B.B. King, B. Gibbons, G. Rossington, C. Santana, P. Townshend, J. Page, E. Van Halen

I thought it would be interesting to discuss who you though did not belong on this.

Vaughn, because he's dead.

cdollaz 12-04-03 09:14 AM

I would assume Lenny, because I've never heard of him being thought as an exceptional guitar player.

Is the Eric Van Halen and Simon Richard Vaughn?

Why is Billy Gibbons and Lenny on there? Hell why is eddie on there, he did one little finger tap, all of a sudden he is a guitar god?

You may not like his style or respect his technical ability, but to deny Eddie Van Halen's influence on guitar is a mistake. He created his own sound and influenced many other players. Same with Billy Gibbons. You can tell both of their playing instantly. To me, that is what makes a great guitarist, someone who can create and mold their own sound, not someone who is fast or technically sound.

kravitz, definitely. then maybe mr. cheese-riff van halen.

BRIAN 1972 12-04-03 01:26 PM

kravitz - a very good guitar player, but no legend.

sataniko 12-04-03 02:16 PM

I also say Kravitz.

garolo 12-04-03 02:30 PM

Both Slash and Kravitz need a few more miles before they can be considered in the same league as the others. Gary Rossington would be a marginal guitar legend. Skynyrd was greater than the sum of it's parts. As for the others, each was an innovator.

I wouldn't even call Kravitz a good guitar player, he just wears a flying V IMO.

turborobb 12-05-03 12:50 AM

Slash, easy

where's George Lynch?

nazz 12-05-03 08:43 AM

Kravitz was the one that jumped out at me and inspired the thread. He just seemed totally out of place to me.

Hiro11 12-05-03 09:02 AM

Kravitz? Gimme a break.

Everyone else is fairly worthy, even Slash, IMO.

Billy Gibbons is the man, that guy is incredible and definitely deserves to be on there.

glasschicken 12-05-03 09:59 AM

Kravitz. He hasn't rocked in like 5, 6 years. Never liked him that much to begin with.

Keith Richards as well, because I hate the Rolling Stones.
