Richest Rappers
I recently made a bet against a friend of mine, on who the 'richer' rapper is; Master P or Jay Z. I can't find a single article that estimates how much money they have. Any of you guys have a link to this? I'd greatly appreciate it.

Jay Z estimated net worth: $300-$400 million. Source: http://www.eurweb.com/articles/headl...6707312003.cfm
Master P's estimated net worth: $249 million. Source: http://www.businessreport.com/pub/20...er/1920-1.html BTW, www.google.com is your friend |
Ya, I'd def. believe Jay Z is worth more. Master P has a lot of money, but the main thing is he knows how to flaunt it. Or knows how to waste it. Jay Z has probably sold more records just in his own name than Master P's whole No Limit Album sold in it's lifetime.
I'd nominate P Diddy as well for richest. |
I'd also say it was Jay Z because what other rapper has enough money/clout to try and buy the NJ Nets.

Dr. Dre would be up there too I'd imagine. From being one of the most sought after and respected producers to his success with signing Eminem he'd certainly be worth more than Master P.

Right now, it's no contest, Jay-Z is way richer than Master P.
Jay-Z's sources of income: - Co-founder of Roc-a-fella (successful) - Roc-A-Wear (successful) - CD Sales/Touring - Owns a club in NY (40/40 club) - Endorsements (Reebok, Heineken) Master P's sources of income: - Pimping himself and his son 'Lil Romeo to some crappy show on Nickelodeon - Record label (hasn't been hugely successful in about 3 years) - His crappy clothing line P. Miller or some crap (Sean John wannabe). Master P was richer, about 5 years ago. Also, like Deftones said, P. Diddy and Jay-Z are about neck and neck. |
I think it is P.Diddy, but Jay Z is up there as well.
I don't think Dre is to high on the list, he is just making money off of Em and 50 cent right now. I don't think he owns any big companies like Clothing or resturants. |
I thought I read a couple years ago that Dr. Dre was hurting for money after his initial failures with the Aftermath record label and what not. I think that a lot of the money he shoudl have made from his Death Row days went to Suge, as did a lot of Tupacs money. I one time read that 2pac was basically given and allowance and what not from Death Row, but never had control of his own money. Like they bought him a house and cars and shit, but he never had full control. I think that's why he was supposedly looking to go all out with his Makavelli record label and leave death row. I'm starting to think back to all my 2pac conspiracy theory days!

The richest rapper is most likely Skee-Lo.

Anyone know if Jay-Z and his troubles with his 40/40 club (i.e. not paying his bills) has been resolved?

There was an article in Time last week that said Roc a Fella did over a billion in sales last year. From the clothes, music and vodka. That is amazing. I did read Eminem made the most last year from his music. Crazy money.

No Limit Records Quietly Files Bankruptcy
Apparently the founder of No Limit Records, Master P. (aka Percy Miller) does have a limit--a financial limit. PopFeed.com has learned that Miller's company quietly filed for bankruptcy a little over a month ago on December 17, 2003. Suspicions were raised when Koch Distribution, announced yesterday that they had signed Miller and his label, New No Limit, to a distribution deal (Miller's former distributor was major label Universal). Known as the final resting place for failing artists, in 2003 Billboard Magazine said that Koch has, "a tendency to sign acts that appear to be past their commercial prime." Just a year ago, Miller was ranked on Fortune Magazine's "40 Richest Under 40" list with an estimated $361 million in holdings. Miller is scheduled to appear in court for a bankruptcy hearing in California in two weeks on February 2nd. from [RAPNEWSDIRECT.com] |

What a chump. |
 I honestly don't understand how he made it this far in the first place. The records that his label released were absolutely terrible in every way.
