Free SACD
 

For anyone that's interested..........
The newest issue of Rolling Stone magazine (500 Greatest Albums of All Time), is giving you a free SACD with the purchase. I got mine at Wal-Mart this morning. The disc is pretty darn good! Here's what's on it:

I'm not going to claim to be an expert on the technology, but how can SACD be a better format when its signal path travels through analog cable? From what I understand, you cannot use SACD through optical. Seems to me that a pure digital patch would yield a better signal.

it travels through six analog cables.............. for 5.1 surround. And actually, analog sounds warmer (better) than digital. Remember vinyl records? NOTHING sounds better than an album, the first time you play it! A cd doesn't even come close.....I used to always record my albums to tape, the first time I played them. Don't get me wrong. I love cds too. But albums sounded better. That's why vinyl is starting to make a come back.
Sacd and dvd-a discs sound so good because they're in surround, and recorded at a better bit rate (I think), than regular cds.

Also, I've heard they're working on sending the signals through a digital coaxial or optical cable.
