Almost a year after the murder of founding member Jam Master Jay (Jason Mizell), legendary rap act Run-D.M.C. will be celebrated Oct. 28 with "Ultimate Run-D.M.C." The Arista two-disc CD-and-DVD set features 18 audio tracks spanning the group's career as well as 14 video clips and a mini-documentary.

The audio portion of the package focuses on the group's hits from albums such as 1984's self-titled debut, 1986's "Raising Hell" and 1988's "Tougher Than Leather," with 13 of its tracks culled from those three landmark discs. But the collection also sports rarer material, such as live versions of "Together Forever (Krush-Groove 4)" from 1984 and "Here We Go" from 1983.

The DVD will include video clips for a number of the band's best known tracks. The disc, mixed in 5.1 surround-sound, also boasts a discography & mini documentary about the band. This DVD is most likely the same one released in 2000.

The trio broke up in late 2002, following Mizell's death. As previously reported, group member Darryl "D.M.C." McDaniels has been working on his solo debut, "Checks, Thugs and Rock'n'Roll," which is inspired partly by classic rock and pop music.

Here is the DVD track list:
Sucker M.C.'s (Krush-Groove 1)
Walk This Way
You Talk Too Much
King of Rock
Run's House
It's Tricky
Mary, Mary
Pause
Rock Box
The Ave.
Beats to the Rhyme
It's Like That
Down With the King
Christmas in Hollis

Circuit City has this set for 9.99 the week of release.

Nice collection (good price, too). The DVD makes this worth getting for me, since I've already got the first 4 CDs remastered.

Even though I already own a bunch of their discs (including Together Forever), I'll be picking this up. $10 is worth it for their videos alone.

Just picked this up -- great set for the $9.99 CC price!

The videos sound awesome in 5.1!

(Yes, the DVD is same one as released in 2000)

My ONLY gripe is that the Christmas song should've been on the audio CD (and dump the 2nd version of Its Like That)

Just picked this up. Note to all the purists: some of the songs are edited ("Here We Go," "Hit It Run," "Beats To The Rhyme"*), not that they cussed much, though. It doesn't really bother me since I have all of these songs on other discs.

Can't believe it'll be a year tomorrow that JMJ was shot.

*Part of the Sam Kinison sample in "Beats To The Rhyme" is edited, but I never could really understand what he was saying in the first place except for the "all day" part. What is he saying in that sample?

I bought this solely for the videos.
I have all of there albums and the first greatest hits
album they made.
For 9.99 it was worth it for the 14 videos.
Is this bonus DVD the "together forever" dvd from a while ago?

Not happy that some of the cd's songs are edited.
But like I said, I didnt buy it for the cd.

BTW DJ Linus the editied words are
" D**K in your mouth all day"
