What do you use to hold & clean your CDs?
I found nothing in search about this. I've been keeping my CDs in a Case Logic portfolio, the CD sleeves are plastic with a black felt-like backing. I've found many of my CDs now have these little tiny (you'd have to be looking really hard) black specks on them. I'm going to attribute this to the portfolio, because there were no issues with the CDs before.
So any suggestions on a good CD holder/portfolio. I transport my CDs often so just keeping them in the case is cumbersome. Also, any suggestion on any good CD cleaners? I've been told plain alcohol (?). I don't think the black spots can be cleaned, I've tried with a cleaner, but I'd like clean some of the fingerprints. |

(Allsop unbreakable stronboxes) For my rare hard-to-replace favorites, there's nothin' better. Oh, it helps to be paranoid of scratches too. :) -Gunshy |
I clean them with cd cloths you can buy at the store or tissue (the kind you blow your nose with).

For scratched discs I suggest:
http://www.cdwarehousemn.com/deals.htm Only good for Minnesota guys though. Although you can check: http://www.cdwarehouse.com To see if there is a store that does this in your state. Later, |

(what do you bet me the plastic spokes are the only things that aren't unbreakable!?) :D And no, they aren't truly unbreakable (of course, what is?) They are made out of a vinyl (polymer) versus typical brittle plastic, similar to late-in-life LP records, the ones you could almost roll into a tube and wouldn't shatter :) So they bend instead of cracking or breaking. Doing this tends to show some stress marks though so it's not advised. I use them because I think they're cool and do actually protect the CD as these jewel cases won't shatter and the spindle won't lose it's little points (the tray is the same material only opaque). I only have about 40 which I use to house things like my Pixies "Trompe le Monde" Japan CD with the live bonus tracks or my copy of Unida's first CD EP, both insanely hard to find (read "irreplaceable"). True, they won't last in a fire, but that's what insurance is for I guess. -Gunshy |
