Question about upcoming live Steve Vai DVD
Steve Vai has a new DVD coming out soon called "Live at the Astoria", but I've been seeing conflicting dates as to it's release (either mid-October or mid-November). Anyone have an official release date? Thanks.

I've checked both Amazon and CD Universe. At present, the official date looks to be 10/21. Vai's webmaster has already confirmed that the DVD will be available at the merchandise booth at this fall's G3 shows. In case the release date is pushed back, this is another option assuming you have tickets to one of the shows. I can't wait. There should be some very cool stuff on here.

Quick bump for any Steve Vai fans. This finally saw official release yesterday. Found my copy at Tower Records for $14.99. Great sound, picture is okay (although some of these cameramen seem to have failed basic film 101), and extras are great. It also includes a full commentary track from the entire band. Watched the concert portion last night in PCM stereo (I'm in the midst of upgrading to a 5.1 receiver). Very cool!

I have to also give a big on Vai's DVD release, which is a must for any guitar player fan. It definitely shows off his amazing virtuosity. It's also quite apparent that Mr. Vai is not from this planet based on his music, guitar playing skills, wardrobe, and showmanship. Also, the commentary track with Steve and band members Billy Sheehan, Tony Macalpine, and Dave Weiner is very entertaining. Pick this one up.
