Who was playing at your very first concert and was it a 'date'?

I seen "The Carpenters " when Karen was only 16 at Valley Forge, PA, I was 25 and married. Who was playing at your very first concert and were you on a date?

edclem 09-26-03 08:27 PM

my first concert was Def Leppard (on the Hysteria tour) with Tesla. (in Austin, TX in the Frank Erwin Center)
Wasn't a date, but it was a great show. :)

11/86- Camper Van Beethoven, That Petrol Emotion and Big Dipper opened. Weird line-up, fantastic show.

MurraySiskind 09-26-03 09:03 PM

1985 Hall and Oates with General Public. I was in 5th grade so no, it wasn't a date.

boc4ever 09-26-03 09:19 PM

1984
Philadelphia Spectrum
Great White
Judas Priest

I was 15 and was dateless for this one. However, I did bring a date to see Slayer in 1987 at City Gardens in Trenton, NJ. Needless to say, the relationship didn't last too long after that -smile-

My first "real" concert was Kiss, Slaughter and Little Caesar in 1989. I was in 9th grade and went with my brother (obviously not a date).

I went with my parents to see Neil Diamond when I was 8 or 9 years old. Looking back on it, I'd rather see Neil Diamond than Kiss.

Pointyskull 09-26-03 10:28 PM

3 Dog Night w/ opening act Gino Vannelli in 1974 at Washington Park in Homewood, IL.

I was 14. Went with two friends.

Yeah, I'm old. Wanna do something about it?

Ginwen 09-26-03 11:04 PM

My first "real" concert was Queen (Opening Act: Thin Lizzy). I think about 1976 (when I was in 8th grade). I went by myself, got a ride from my mom. My second "real" concert was also Queen, 1979, and I went with a friend.

I am 29 years old. My first real concert was (drumroll) two years ago. Weird Al on Navy Pier. If going with your wife counts as a date, then ok.

I love music, but just don't get into concerts.

Decker 09-26-03 11:11 PM

For me Fleetwood Mac, 1980 , Tusk tour, Honolulu. With my folks, in a cloud of pot smoke. Definately not a date.

Ergyu 09-26-03 11:28 PM

Mine was Moody Blues with my dad when I was ten. First one that I actually wanted to go to would be pearl jam though.

Never taken a date to a concert, though i've gone to concerts with my Girlfriend, but since it was steady, you don't really have dates.

Molly Hatchet & April Wine - 198? Bismark Civic Center - ND

No date - just me & a friend & a contact high

kilcher 09-27-03 12:04 AM

No date. First concert was Tom Petty with Lenny Kravitz opening. This was in the early 90's. We were really disappointed that Kravitz was opening but that changed once we saw him. He was really good.

mediabear 09-27-03 07:18 AM

Robert Plant with Cheap Trick opening
1987

I went with a friend from work. I was 17. My first concert was supposed to be a couple of weeks before Plant. I had tickets to David Lee Roth, but kept thinking that I didn't want to have to say that my first concert was DLR, so I skipped it and waited for the Plant show.

woofman 09-27-03 11:36 AM

Iron Maiden w/ Waysted(sp) opening. Toledo Sports Arena in 1987

I was in 7th or 8th grade, went with some friends from school.

pushx 09-27-03 11:46 AM

Bryan Adams 1985

BOC4Ever, you may already know this but Triumph's US Festival show (circa 1984?) is coming out on DVD in a few weeks. Should be awesome!
