RIAA countersued!

http://www.wral.com/technology/25086...03150009242003

"Sharman Networks -- the company behind Kazaa -- is suing entertainment companies for copyright infringement.

The federal lawsuit filed this week accuses the companies of using unauthorized versions of Kazaa software in their efforts to snoop out users. "

But of course, RIAA's being snarky about it:

"The Recording Industry Association of America called Sharman's "newfound admiration for the importance of copyright law" ironic and "self-serving." "

The song isn't that funny (although a nice idea), but the phone calls -- and especially the fan mail -- are pretty good.

RIAA Amnesty program???

Has anyone used the RIAA amnesty program. It's not really a program I guess, but a way you won't get sued for downloading. Anyone know if this is real?

And not only that, but every legal opinion I've heard is that anyone who accepts the "amnesty" is admiting in writing to breaking the law, with absolutely no guarantee of avoiding future prosecution.

Anyone who opts for this is a fool.

YES!!! listen to what these guys are telling you. It is not a good idea, and those who fell for this crap, are fools. It only keeps the RIAA lawyers off your back, and that's up for debate as well. It doesn't stop the idividual record companys( even if represented by the RIAA), the bands, publishers, or any futare copyright holders from sueing you.

There are also small stipulations, that make you give up some of your consumer freedoms. Never cave in to anything that will do such a thing. NEVER!!
