Think what you want but Sabbath was the first Heavy Metal band.

Zeppelin was hard rock, and they're in the 'hall of fame' already so why bring them up?

Which band is more influential?? thats just a matter of opinion, I like Black Sabbath more, but both bands are legendary.

Personally I think the Hall of Fame is a corporate kiss ass list overall , its pretty pathetic when bands like The Clash, The Police and friggin' Steely Dan and not have a band thats done so much like Black Sabbath, or even KISS??

last year they got 1 right in AC/DC....but that doesn't outweigh the number of bullshit artists in the HOF, most of whom I don't even consider rock and roll......

they should rename the RNR Hall to: Corporate Ass Kissing Hall of Fame.

Once again, does anyone know if Sabbath is finally going to allow themselves to be voted in?

Every time before this, they've demanded that the band be removed from consideration because the people that vote are the same people that have put Sabbath down their entire career.

Could it be Van Halen didn't get nominated because they know they would get inducted and not show up, except maybe David Lee Roth.

I generally tend to agree with most of the R&R HOF's choices even if I am not a fan of the music of that artist/band. Having said that, it is absurd that Traffic was inducted while Black Sabbath, The Sex Pistols, and especially the Stooges sit on the sidelines once again.

One of Harrison's accomplishments as a solo artist should not be overlooked. Before the star studded benefit concerts that we have come to be used to today came the first one. The Concert for Bangladesh was a huge event and the first of many more to come.

No credibility. Rock and Roll Hall Of SHAM.

I thought I read long ago that the guy running Rolling Stone magazine is also on the board who decides the RRHOF inductees and he hates RUSH? Some RUSH fans had tried to get a boycott of Rolling Stone mag going.

Ok, I was willing to go with you up until this point. When you start putting down the Clash in favor of, well, in favor of any band, well, that's where you lose me.

((((Deep Purple is very debatable. Other than Smoke On the Water, what hits do they have?))))

Well let's see, how about Perfect Strangers, Knocking At Your Back Door, Nobody's Home, Call Of The Wild, Space Trucking, Hush, etc. etc.

Perfect Strangers was a huge album in 1984, with more than one hit, since i'm more of an 80's Deep Purple fan i've mentioned some of there 80's hit's, but i know they have alot more hit's from the 70's other than Smoke On The Water...

This band definately deserves the R & R hall of fame...

I always love how "music fans" say...Black Sabbath is more deserving than The Clash (Fill in whatever bands you like)

Well, I think The Clash, The Police were deserving, AND think BS, Rush and many other bands excluded are deserving as well. Yea, are there some poorer choices than others. But overall they are not too bad.

(I agree with that there is some "non-respect" of Metal in the Rock Hall's choices though)

Even though I stopped listening to him years ago, I can't help rooting for Bob Seger. He seems like such a nice guy and though he went soft in the end, Feel Like a Number and Beautiful Loser (among many others) are two of the best working class anthems in all of rock.
